I have changed my mind regarding the UT/TAMU relationship.

I had it backwards.
Dr Drunk's posts have convinced me that UT can't quit TAMU.

You are "spot on." When FUTEXAS is winning, Oklahoma is their rival. When FUTEXAS is losing, aTm is their rival.

Oh, and Dr. Drunk "cuts and pastes" several responses to this thread in 5, 4, 3, 2, and ....

My opinion of Aggies has definitely changed for the better since they first started coming on the expansion board. I still think their traditions are weird and creepy, but I think they're good people.

well they are good people I guess, not serial killers or anything
but weird and creepy does describe them as a "people" too

and I welcome them with open arms.
I was reading something on the OT and nicknames and thought it was interesting about the "fighting tigers" from the civil war
quote:
Despite all their vices, Lee's Tigers emerged from the Civil War with one of the most respected military records of any group of southern soldiers. According to Jones, the unsavory reputation of the Tigers was well earned, for Louisiana probably had a higher percentage of criminals, drunkards, and deserters in its commands than any other Confederate state. The author spices his narrative with well-chosen anecdotes-among them an account of one of the stormiest train rides in military history. While on their way to Virginia, the enlisted men of Coppens' Battalion uncoupled their officers' car from the rest of the train and proceeded to partake of their favorite beverages. Upon arriving in Montgomery, the battalion embarked upon a drunken spree of harassment, vandalism, and robbery. Meanwhile, having commandeered another locomotive, the officers arrived and sprang from their train with drawn revolvers to put a stop to the disorder. "The charge of the Light Brigade," one witness recalled, "was surpassed by these irate Creoles."

I dont know about that, but what I can tell you is he is spewing the exact words of all Longhorn fans. They dont even know what they are saying, just whatever the administration tells them to. I talked to so many over this past weekend at bars and downtown, none of them know each other, but they all use the exact same verbage. Same words, same tone, the exact same response to everything.
I'm convinced that the UT administration sat down and came up with a "List of the 25 most likely questions/comments about UT and conference realignment and the words we are going to use to address them" ......and then proceeded to email all of their alumni and pump internet message boards full of their PR "spin' - they're just drones at this point, I doubt if they even know what they're saying or why they respond the way they do.
This fanbase has never agreed on shite, and now all of a sudden they resemble of Children of the Corn? All talking in unison? Political parties would kill to achieve this level of brainwashing

You guys are right, I can't get enough of this comedy. I get a kick out of every deadline that comes and goes, not because I think A&M will never get in the SEC (of course they will), but this giant cluster-frick of a mess is typical of how aggie handles everything and it is funny for them to be shamed on a national stage.
But nothing, absolutely nothing, is better than Baylor holding aggie by the short-hairs. Priceless!

And they call us a cult!
I think many of you will find that we are good people and fit in with SEC people as individuals. I know the few who made the trip after LSU-Oregon to A&M-SMU could attest to this. Hopefully more in the general area (Houston/Dallas) make the trip for some bigger games and get personal experience before passing judgment

What's really said is hiding behind Baylor's skirts. That's what it has come to for the Horns in a futile effort to hold their kingdom, er, conference, together.

Hiding behind Baylor's skirts? Are you implying that Texas is pulling Baylor's strings and forcing them not to sign the waiver? Heck, Texas gave its blessing for A&M to go to the SEC.
I am glad A&M submarined the conference because I want Texas in the Big 10 but every day this drags out adds to the aggie humiliation at the hands of Baylor and I find that to be very, very funny.

It's either a Brokeback Mountain or Deliverance relationship, not sure which.

Baylor's backtracking adds to TAMU's humiliation? What, Baptists don't have consciences and can't be shamed? So when they give their consent on one hand, and take it away with the other, it's OK?
You're the prototype UT fan....fair weather.

As an aggie I feel no embarrassment whatsoever over this. Baylor is humiliating itself on a national level now.
