even if they go to the SEC, they will still play each other at the end of the year. It would be like UF vs FSU and how UVA vs VT used to be out of conference

Tiger Authority, thats fine...another thought...maybe we dont want to be in the SEC, seem to be doing well here in the ACC. Conference champ game 3 of 4 yrs...why leave and face the "brutal" SEC. We'd drop to mediocre. Maybe not worth it. Something to think about.

I have no doubt that there was probably pressure put on UVA to vote VT into the conference. The SEC member schools have to vote in new schools as well. I understand how it works. But to think that UVA could stop VT from getting into the SEC is foolish. They couldn't, they can't, they won't. If VT desires more publicity, exposure, and revenue, the SEC makes a lot of sense if they are asked. If they are content being in a fledgling conference with little to no upside, that is fine as well. I'm simply laughing at the "legal" problems and other stuff being spouted off by the other poster. That is utter nonsense.

To be honest, I am not sure how much UVA per se would have in it, but VA legislature may pull strings. Would not necessarily call the ACC a flegling conf, but as it stands now, the goal is to be no 1 or no 2 in BCS and the road for VT to do that may be best in the ACC....

I was in Baton Rouge for that game few yrs ago...

since you have no real knowledge of what when on and you also have two people from Virginia telling you what went down and what would happen in a possible VT move to the SEC maybe you should stop trying to discredit our post.

Well sometimes it is better to be a bigger fish in a pond but in this day and age the best team from one of the expanded conferences is going to have huge backing to be in over a no loss or one loss team from the ACC. The landscape is changing and making it harder for conferences to survive.

its going to be a we helped you out now you don't turn your back on us or else kind of thing. esp with the UVA grads in the legislature. Also having the new governor being from nothern va and having no dog in the fight he will probably keep his noise out of it and let them battle it out in Richmond. While they try to keep them selves happy and their constitutes as well UVA and VT grads and fans alike

TAMU for the Texas market
Va Tech for the D.C. market
Mizzou for the St. Louis-K.C. market
FSU will tighten up the Florida market and dig into the Atlanta market to say the least.

West..LSU,Arky,TAMU, Mizzou
South..Ole Miss, State, Auburn, Bama
North..Tenn, Vandy, Va. Tech, FSU
East.. Florida,UGA, S. Carolina, Tucky(So UF wont cry about FSU)

South and West champs play for rights to face winner of North and East champs in Atlanta.

Putting the cart before the horse...we dont know whats changing yet...when it becomes 4 super conf where they are the only team avaliable for the BCS CG, VT will be there

Certainly it does. The goal of expansion is geographical. VT makes a lot of sense in that regard. FSU would do little to "expand" the SEC. I would hope UNC or NC State would be on the short list as well.

Are you a UVA grad, just curious. I am new to the area (4yrs) and wasnt around when this happened. I would truly hope that UVA would not throws arms in the air over this....the university itself I am refering to, not their reps in legislature

What about West Virginia? They are sort of southern...I guess. Below the Mason-Dixon line at least. Good basketball school and a decent football following.

SMU is small, but maybe they could help with the Houston/Dallas market.

And finally....Cincinatti. Just north of the Kentucky border, they are an outside the box pick.

no im actually a West Virginia grad but i grew up in va. I dislike both schools to be honest and would love to see WVU and VT join the SEC together but im just being honest of what kind of problems VT just trying to up and leave the ACC could cause.

UVA still had a big ego and they already don't like VT stealing the spot light off them since the Vick era.

I can vouch for that...was in Boulder for a game between my alma mater and WVU and they came out well. Only riots that occurred were courtesy of the home team. Good fans, atleast that weekend

I hope A&M jumps over but I don't want to settle with just one more after that. I say expand and lock it down as the best conference. Hell if you look at it strictly from a fan viewpoint the match ups would be great to watch. I think the only serious thoughts of possibly adding outside of Texas and OK which are likely not coming it seems would be

FSU
Miami
Clemson
VT
WV
GT
