Mizzou brings more money to the table in TV contracts with the KC/St. Louis populace

If they expand to 16 it should easily be: TAMU, Mizzou, VT and FSU.

Three new TV markets and powerhouse FSU.

it doesnt make sense to do something just because the pac 10 is doing it.. it makes sense to get TAMU if they are available, and then one team in the east..

the difference between what the SEC and Big 10 do, and what the PAC 10 is doing, is that the SEC/Big10 arent going to be taking hangers on to another school.. they will take schools that make sense geographically, financially, educational wise, and football wise..

I think just adding two teams make the most sense, for now. Leaves the SEC some wiggle room to respond if Big 10 lands Notre Dame in a few years.

We don't need 16 to compete with the Pac 16. Hell we really don't need any. But with the possibility of aTm on the table, we need to take advantage of it as it makes a lot of sense financially for them and the conference. That means we need another team and due to the proximity of the other schools and while I understand expanded television markets are important in gaining a team like Missouri, I think the SEC is so successful due to the passion exuded by each school and the relative proximity of the schools. So Missouri wouldn't get my vote, but FSU would followed by VT.

Well since UVA had its hand forced by VA politics to switch its vote which got VT in the ACC. There is no way they just let VT stab them in the back and be used as a step on the ladder. UVA might have no interest in the SEC but they will make it a legal mess for VT to leave the ACC.

The SEC has no interest in UVA. In the end the powers that be will make the move that makes the most financial sense. I can't see UVA being able to do much other than get pissed.

If we go 14, yes, but serious consideration will be given to Mizzou is they go to 16.

It's all about $$$. I think Slive's goal is to add teams which don't require realignment of the divisions.

well the deciding vote was down to UNC,Duke or UVA. Duke and UNC said frick no to VT. Gov Mark Warner at the time who has good support in SW VA was able with other politicians who are VT alumni got UVA to switch their vote. The funny thing is VT wasn't even asked first to join the ACC and was part of the first legal mess to stop the raid with WVU and Pitt.

And my point is that they still can't do anything if VT were to want to get into the SEC.

Florida will probably have a problem with FSU joining. I like UNC over VT because it is further south and not only is it closing the gap on VT football, they have a better basketball and baseball program. The only problem is the UNC-Duke basketball rivalry.

yes they can, also VT has various joint programs with other ACC schools. UVA can make it such a giant legal mess for VT.

What legal mess could this be? You realize academics and sports are different right?

Someone tough has to get into the SEC East. Florida has no competition as far as football goes. Its Florida....sometimes (but not lately) Tennessee and thats about it. Kentucky, SC and Vandy are never going to give UF a run. Meanwhile the west has annual bowl contenders in LSU, Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss.

Very good point. Just not FSU.
