Aussie is a perfect example of why we should embrace our athletics. Yeah, the baseball season ended too abruptly, but this is a fan coming from across the world to embrace and experience what is LSU. And its the fans
Aussie, You will enjoy your time in TS and everything that surrounds it. Now, this is a true fan!

That looks about right in my opinion. Would put baseball at 20%, but otherwise all else agree. Nice post
That said, I still think most would agree that we need 198+ to win a NC. We have done it before this year.
Fair enough, I will take my medicine. Did the math. I realize now that they drop the lowest score of 6. Good win! Sorry
Worst fan base bc of my comments? LOL I graduated from LSU and biggest fan of all. Why the frick would I even be commenting on a gymnastics thread. Did you even notice the scores? Ironic calling me out for worse fan base while I actually followed the meet in real time, and you commenting after the fact
WRONG. Under 198 will not will a NC. I am a tiger fan. But look at the scores. All 9.75 and above. If one gymnast takes a 9.2, its almost insurmountable.
They took a 9.2 and a 9.3. Not to rain on the parade but if those two performances were only "poor", like 9.7, they destroy us. Those two scores were an anomaly. Tigers didnt win this, Florida lost it. That said we have a hell of a gym team
"we are more than a decent following just wait till you see how many fans show up in BR this year. We are like steelers fans b/c displaced all over the country"

I can vouch for that...was in Boulder for a game between my alma mater and WVU and they came out well. Only riots that occurred were courtesy of the home team. Good fans, atleast that weekend

"its going to be a we helped you out now you don't turn your back on us or else kind of thing. esp with the UVA grads in the legislature. Also having the new governor being from nothern va and having no dog in the fight he will probably keep his noise out of it and let them battle it out in Richmond. While they try to keep them selves happy and their constitutes as well UVA and VT grads and fans alike"

Are you a UVA grad, just curious. I am new to the area (4yrs) and wasnt around when this happened. I would truly hope that UVA would not throws arms in the air over this....the university itself I am refering to, not their reps in legislature
"Well sometimes it is better to be a bigger fish in a pond but in this day and age the best team from one of the expanded conferences is going to have huge backing to be in over a no loss or one loss team from the ACC. The landscape is changing and making it harder for conferences to survive."

Putting the cart before the horse...we dont know whats changing yet...when it becomes 4 super conf where they are the only team avaliable for the BCS CG, VT will be there
To be honest, I am not sure how much UVA per se would have in it, but VA legislature may pull strings. Would not necessarily call the ACC a flegling conf, but as it stands now, the goal is to be no 1 or no 2 in BCS and the road for VT to do that may be best in the ACC....

I was in Baton Rouge for that game few yrs ago...
"even if they go to the SEC, they will still play each other at the end of the year. It would be like UF vs FSU and how UVA vs VT used to be out of conference"

This is true

Tiger Authority, thats fine...another thought...maybe we dont want to be in the SEC, seem to be doing well here in the ACC. Conference champ game 3 of 4 yrs...why leave and face the "brutal" SEC. We'd drop to mediocre. Maybe not worth it. Something to think about.
The typical university budget it in the 1+ billion dollar range. Unless there are no reprecussions from your state provider it makes sense for VT to join the SEC and gain 10 mil/yr...but when the state provides that much money, they have some say...as long as they want to.

If they stay out of it, all is fine...but 50 mil in cuts for this move would be a penny in the bank and outweigh all else
Sorry, dont know how to reply directly do an above post but to the person that said something to the effect of a windfall from joining the SEC...what are we talking??? about 10mil/yr extra? Sounds good until you consider that the VT board will have to weigh that against maybe 50mil in budget cuts for the university...guys its not all about football.

That being said Id love to see VT in SEC
Regarding this VT/UVA issue...being a faculty member at VT, I can tell you that state politics DO play a huge part in things like this.

Imagine...VT wants to leave ACC, this hurts ACC, VT/UVA rivalry, ect...all it takes is some talk from Richmond regarding funding $, we are all on budget cuts, they can make it worse with justification. These things do happen.
