Does Arizona have enough football alums coaching to fill out a Malzahn staff? There are only so many Arkansas highschool coaches that Gus can hire.

Gus is far from a washout. He’d do well at Arizona.

Why? Isn't this the same kind of lazy thinking that led them to Sumlin, and even Rich Rod?

Gus Malzahn at Auburn 68-35 (39-26)
Kevin Sumlin at A&M 51-26 (25-23)

Gus is better, but is he really that much better?

Gus Malzahn had elite seasons.

Sumlin had one because of a heisman phenom and kings bury calling plays.

He never got close to that success again.

Gus is not a bad coach, but his problem was that he had no college pedigree and couldn't or wouldn't adapt to evolving his offenses. Good guy, great family, but it was time

Zona hired an idiot from an SECW who was an offensive genius a few years back. I doubt they would make that mistake again. Pus Gus has been a HS and college coach in the SE and this would put him out of his comfort zone, especially in recruiting.

Gus Malzahn went 12-2 in year one. Sumlin went 11-2.

It was 9-4 8-5 7-6 every year after for both except Gus just happened to go 10-4 one time.
