WTH is going on in Aggy land?

Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher and paid him a huge buyout because his team would have likely ended the season 7-5. Then freaked out about potentially hiring a 7-5 SEC coach; only to hire a 7-5 ACC coach. How is Elko an upgrade from Fisher? You idiots really just paid $75,000,000 to get rid of a 7-5 coach to hire a 7-5 coach.

Comparing head-to-head records for one season (where Duke didn’t have a starting QB due to injury) isn’t even valid.
A more accurate sample would be looking at the past 11 years where Stoops has a 35-55 conference record.

I think Elko is a great coach and could do really well. To me Aggie takes a risk with most options. The big risk with Elko is lack of head coaching history. He's gonna have talent to work with at least. Only time will tell if he's an upgrade over Jimbo though. On paper coming in Jimbo had a national championship pedigree as the head guy and a good recruiting history.

I don’t think it’s lateral. Elko is the best coach possible they could have landed.

It'll be interesting to see how he does. Is his best accomplishment as a head coach beating a 4 loss Clemson? Clemson has looked pretty mortal post Travorance.

They paid more than that when you factor in what they’re going to pay Elko. That’s some emotional spending right there.

Last week the Aggies were talking about how they would be offering a blank check to Kirby Smart and actually believing they had a shot. The fact that Elko is the best that could have landed makes it even more hilarious.
