With a lot of rumors of Mel Tucker being a front runner it got me thinking.

Would Woodward really hire a Mel Tucker for LSU after pulling a Jimbo for aTm?

Tucker would be a very underwhelming hire, especially compared to what Woodward seems to be capable of.

Here’s to State going down in flames the rest of the season

It's about the amount of money he can offer and what coaches are available or willing to come. He's giving every bit as much, if not more, effort than he did for A&M.

I honestly believe he is, I’m just not sure where Tucker even fits into the equation. Surely Woodward is smarter than that. Hoping a smoke screen.

Jimbo is not a bad hire, especially for aTm.

Tucker is a terrible hire.

Tucker doesn't fit Woody's MO tbh. It was said Tate had something to do with this and it's definitely believable in this situation to push a black hire considering the political culture around the program right now.

Unless internal politics at the university are dictating this coaching search, Woody is not putting his legacy on the back of an unproven coach who's defensive minded and the opposite what modern NCAA is about. You could argue he's not even a good defensive minded coach looking at his teams statistically.

Timing has a lot to do with it. I think Franklin is the "Jimbo" in this situation. Not a fan of either.

When your boss tells you to hire a particular type of person, that's what you do.

I think this has more to do with it than anything else.
I’m not sure Woodward follows the orders after State stumbles down the stretch.

Everyone is chasing the latest rumor and talking point by the local and national media, with many of these rumors most likely leaked by Woodward's team as a smokescreen.

What name hardly ever seems to surface? Jimbo

I wonder why.......

He’s 115 - 35 as a head coach

3/4 years at aTm he’ll have 9+ wins

3-1 vs LSU

aTm is trending upward with Jimbo

If you think that’s a bad hire for aTm I don’t know what else to say.

do you know what Tucker and Jimbo will accomplish over the next 5-10 years?

So, you paying for what jimbo did 8 years ago. Not what he will do for the next Five.

I’m not even a Jimbo fan, so back up a little.

The comparison isn’t even on the same page though.

I’m looking at resumès, not guessing on what Tucker will do in 10 years when he hasn’t even been a head coach for two seasons. And hasn’t beaten anyone worth a shite. This season will end in the same fashion.

It's all relative. Texas A&M isn't Bama, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, etc. Just winning 9 games over there is impressive. With the exception of the 2012 season (thanks to Johnny Manziel), they haven't been relevant since the 90's. Jimbo finished last year 4th in the nation. The last time ANYONE finished that high at Texas A&M was their last National Championship season in 1939.

Jimbo is not a good hire for LSU. He's the type of guy who will win when the heat starts warming his arse up so he'll grab you wins like Bama every now and again. His inability to adapt to modern NCAA and change his offensive philosophy on top of not being able to develop QBs is why he's mediocre. He's a carbon copy of Les Miles at LSU right now. Good winning coach but not great and probably will never win anything with A&M. His offense sucks, he can't develop QBs, and relies on great defense. That's Les Miles made over.
