Jimbo is not a good hire for LSU.

I'm not big on Jimbo at LSU, but you are dead wrong on him with QBs...

quote:

ot being able to develop QBs is why he's mediocre.

he can't develop QBs,

Jamarcus Russell - First overall pick in the draft
Christian Ponder, E.J. Manuel and Jameis Winston at FSU were all drafted in the first round of the draft.
The last few years he's had Kellen Mond at A&M who got drafted in the third round. Jimbo isn't some great coach that we need to seek out imo, but saying twice in a post that he "can't develop QBs" is grossly misinformed.

3/4 years at aTm he’ll have 9+ wins

Ole Miss and Auburn remain on the schedule. Nine wins isn't a sure thing. Hell, he lost to Arkansas and State, LSU isnt a sure thing either.

Using this logic, one could just as easily argue he has 4-5 losses 3/4 years.

Jimbo is not my first pick but I would be relieved if he is named coach given some of the names floated here. He would win consistently at LSU and would win NC in the next 5 to 7 years. I can't say that about Franklin, Tucker, Napier, or Kiffin.

Yeah, you mentioned QBs almost a decade ago. For whatever reason the back half of FSU onward to now he has not developed shite at QB. He has done NOTHING at TAMU and his offense is the problem at TAMU too. He's very similar to Les Miles in that he wins enough but his own stubborn coaching is the issue holding the teams back. He refuses to evolve his offensive philosophy and can't seem to get any QBs going at A&M. His offense was fine 15 years ago but the NCAA has evolved. If it wasn't for his DC he probably would've been fired from TAMU. His best year last year was a down year in SEC and it was all his DC with zero from his offense.

I still can't believe Mond got drafted that high. A team got robbed their pick because he was not a good QB.

With a lot of rumors of Mel Tucker being a front runner it got me thinking.

Would Woodward really hire a Mel Tucker for LSU after pulling a Jimbo for aTm?

Tucker would be a very underwhelming hire, especially compared to what Woodward seems to be capable of.

Here’s to State going down in flames the rest of the season
Here's the question you need to answer: Do you think that his life's ambition is to be AD at LSU, or do you think that Woodward aspires to something else? Given his political background, I've always assumed that, at some point, he wants to transition to Louisiana politics. Being a successful AD at LSU is certainly a plausible path to do that, but it's not the only factor. If he aspires to do so as a Democrat (and I think that is his political bent), if he can hire a head coach who wins and pleases the CRT crowd, that would be a homerun hire for him. And given that Les Miles and Ed Orgeron managed NC's at LSU, he could be thinking that once you meet a certain minimal threshold of coaching competence, other factors can be considered.

That’s a lot of crazy info and not even hard to believe.

Watch less Fox news. "CRT" is a complete Murdoch media boogeyman, and even if it wasn't, nobody is going to remember that one time he hired the 54th black FBS college football head coach who was already a P5 head coach 5 years from now.

Also, while Tucker would be a fine coach, there's about a zero percent chance LSU needs to go that far down the list. Either Riley (probably not realistic) or Franklin seem to be the Jimbo of this coaching cycle, and who knows, maybe he thinks Napier is the dude and he's the first call when Riley says no. Blah blah sauces blah blah, but everyone who should know things is pretty clear that Napier is higher than Tucker on the internal list, and I really doubt that LSU is going to give him an offer he won't take given how hard he's been auditioning for a better job these past two years. These melts are just especially stupid because unless Woodward has been playing absolutely everybody like a fiddle, Tucker is most likely at Michigan State next year.

this isn't apples to apples. jimbo happened to be looking for a way out of fsu on the same cycle that atm turned over. show me a national title winning coach looking to jump off a sinking ship and then we can have an accurate comparison.

unless its urban is looking for a way out of jacksonville this search doesn't have it.

Jimbo wanted out of Tallahassee and away from the distractions his former wife had caused. And he wanted to get back to LSU, but Alleva got played by Ponamsky through leaks. Woodward came to Jimbo's rescue.

JF may still want LSU, and he now has a guy that can get that done.

Holy shite, that’s what you got from my post? And you want a ban bet?

Except for the covid year, he’s been losing 4-5 games a year and was 5-6 his last year at FSU. I’m pretty sure he has a couple more losses waiting for him this year.

My point was that he already has two losses to a couple of terrible teams. He’s not the coach you are proclaiming him to be and losing to the worst LSU team since Curly Hallman would not be out of character.
