Now matter what Saban does the truth is the NFL still at him.

I wonder with Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly finding success if that bugs Saban.

cue Cowherd playing snake hissing sound in the background as he talks about Saban the snake/Miami Dolphins coach.

that's got to eat him up.

All the while Bellmont is following the original timeline. I don't know that that's the case for sure, but it's a distinct possibility.

Then the new athletic director has done an outstanding job in the month he's been there. That athletic department has been a disaster for years and that's not arguable.

mythical fiasco

Bev sleeping with her athletes, got herself fired.

Applewhite sleeping with the fat chick while at a bowl game, hand slapped.

Bev sues the university for $1 million for discrimination.

Freak Nasty sexual harassing ladies, gets fired and one of the ladies gets $400k from the university.

Delose Dodds completely fricking up conference realignment.

There is no mythical fiasco, the texas athletic department is run by a bunch of clowns.

The only reason you don't believe they are a crap show is that you are only seeing surface stuff and haven't followed them closely for a few years. Texas is a crap show.

One man's crap show is another man's sleeping giant. Texas just needs the right guy to come in and clean things up.

And the chances that Steve Patterson has finished that job in the month that he's been on the job... nah. Bev's lawsuit was filed on November 14th. I hope she doesn't settle (she's probably in it just for the money anyways) and let's it go to trial... discovery and testimony is going to be fun.

I am not a Texas fan, but it is probably the best job in college football.

I would think not but UT is just the type of program who is arrogant enough to think they can pull off anything simply because they are Texas

The media fiasco that has become of UT's coaching search has been messy. There appears to be a great amount of internal conflict and ambiguity in the direction of the program. There's almost a sense of panic in the execution of this "search".
The same fiasco and mentality surrounded Bama, when Nicky took the job.

But Nick is going nowhere.

What has been Saban's history with signing extensions with Alabama after the season? Is this year different?

The very fact that you have all these leaks shows Texas is a mess. Well run departments and programs don't have stuff leaking like this. They control the message, always. They use the media judiciously to put out info that they want out there. The volume and contradictory content in what's out there demonstrates there is infighting, and no control.

And while I won't pretend to have Aggie's familiarity with them, what we have seen from Texas is huge egos, an inflated sense of worth and vicious behavior toward their supposed friends. Add the media circus to it, and you have a huge crap show. I think their AD needs to get some work done before that place is attractive enough for a Saban, or a Harbaugh, etc.

Its more to do with who their head coach is going forward.

The texas athletic department inmates are running the asylum. You just don't have all these, I guess you could call them, outside distractions, in a well run athletic department. Too many bullshite hanky panky things going on there. Someone needs to clear out their AD starting at the top (done) on down and probably leave noone behind but secretaries.

Add into that that you have one of their largest donors, a dick of a texas lawyer with a statue in the stadium (has anyone else ever put a donor's statue in the stadium?) who happens to also be the head coach's personal lawyer is telling them how things should be run. That is a conflict of interest. Its not illegal, but man comeon, my largest donor is the coach I'm trying to fire's personal lawyer and he is reportedly threatened to withhold money from the AD if his friend and client isn't retained another year as coach. That's bullshite and you can't let your donors (and coach's lawyer) run your AD. That's how you end up in places where a coach sucks since that fateful January day in 2010 and you are unable to get rid of him and when you try to.. all circus hell breaks out.

It has everything to do with who their coach is going forward. That AD is a shite show with so many outside distractions.

Judging by what I've seen, I don't think that there is one "Texas". You have a multi-headed monster. Saban not signing the renewal indicates dissatisfaction with something. I don't know if it's location, direction, money, or what.....but, the longer this shitshow continues, the less appealing that job becomes. It gets more and more messy.
It gets more messy, disjoiunted, unorganized, and honestly unprofessional IMO. To the average outsider it becomes less appealing - to the elite coach it looks like a giant hassle that I wouldn't want to get involved when I could retain my current postion at a stable program. IDK what Saban will do but that UT program & administration has a mes on their hands and one has to wonder who the hell is in charge over there?

I'm laughing at the people who think this mess is that out of hand. One of the largest universities and most high profile jobs...and Saban involved...and you are surprised there are leaks?

It's not a leak so much as everybody in the media trying to make a name for themselves by breaking the story.
