Would Cam Cameron be a better NFL OC?

I was just looking over a list of candidates that McDermott could hire to become the Bills offensive coordinator. As a Bills fan, I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw Cameron on the list.
So I was wondering if anyone here thinks his offense would stand a chance to be more successful in the NFL than it was in the SEC?
Side note, Les Miles is not invited anywhere near the coaches box so it would be Cam only.

Ravens fired him as OC. Promptly won Super Bowl.
That should tell you plenty.
Then again, everyone on TD couldnt see it then either.

San Diego scored a lot of points with Brees and Rivers when he was OC there. Tomlinson also won league MVP.
He might've sucked as a HC, but he got the job in Miami after Saban quit for a reason.

Christ, I forgot about that!
I hope McDermott doesn't reach out to him at all.

He has a lengthy history as an NFL OC

I would be considered a genius as a QB coach if you let me be in charge of Drew Brees. That's all he had to do was stay out of the way.

Here's what I thought: "If he's good enough to be an NFL OC, surely he's good enough to be effective as a college OC."
I was wrong.

From 2002-2006, he served as the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers. In 2004, San Diego scored 446 points, third-highest in the NFL that year and the third-most in team history. Following the 2004 campaign, Sports Illustrated named Cameron its Offensive Assistant of the Year. In 2005, the Chargers averaged 26.1 points per game - good for fifth in the NFL in that category. In 2006, the Chargers offense amassed a team-record 494 points while paving the way for league MVP LaDainian Tomlinson to break the single-season touchdown record. In addition to Tomlinson, Cameron had the opportunity to work with Pro Bowl quarterbacks Drew Brees and Philip Rivers, as well as All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates in San Diego.

Look at the talent the 04-06 Chargers had, offensively.
Since Cameron left SD, they've continued to have great offensive numbers, while Cameron has not gotten great results anywhere else.

You talking about the guy who had had a top 10-15 NFL offenses for the last 10 years before coming to LSU? Listen, his offense didnt translate to college because it expects too much from the QB, but to say his OC career in the NFL is not very good, is dishonest.
Thats why LSU fans were excited. And 2013 showed us how good he COULD be with a QB

Yup. And that same talent put up worse offensive number after he left. Completion percentage went down. Total yards. Yards per attempt. Interception ratio was much higher. Rushing yardage down. Passing yardage down. Tomlinson had less yards. Lower yards per attempt. Etc.
Basically every offensive metric declined after Cameron left SD.

Well, none of this is true at all.

He also had the luxury of top QBs in Brees and Rivers, neither of whom have seen a drop off since being separated from him.
Hes a middle of the road NFL OC. And a shite tier college OC - specifically for the reason you pointed out, his expectations of the college QB.

I understand the knock on Cam but let us not forget how much fun our offense in 2013 was to watch. The guy was handcuffed for the last three years. It was obvious.

But were they top QBs before Cam got ahold of them? Both claim that Cam is the main reason they have been successful.
You just dont build the resume he has (mostly NFL) while being a 'middle of the road' OC.
