He's only been to two places. He did ok with Bowden's players. But he eventually left Florida State in a dumpster fire.

He has been middle of the road at aTm.

Jimbo isn't a "big fish".

But you are saying he isn’t… just own up to it

Yes woody was told exactly who to get at any cost and contract. He did his job and got their man. Period

Go look at what he did other places if you want to know just how good he is. Add in the fact how close this LSU coaching search is playing out. People are throwing out names but nobody really knows shite. It’s impressive how tight lipped the admin building is right now on all of this. SW will not settle like Alleva did so quit trying to over analyze shite just to be able to make a new thread

The only person "white whale" fits is Jimbo, if the term "white whale" is being used correctly. "White whale" is something that you keep trying, and failing, to get.

Not saying "white whale" is accurate to this search, but if it is, there's no one else who this fits.

and if they drop a game, is he still? Remember, prior to this year, the Richt comparisons were already starting.

Those people are idiots. Both because they're somehow implying that early Richt was anything but an astounding coach and because anyone who looks even a little bit below the surface can see that Kirby is not Richt. Recruiting has gone through the roof. Booster donations have gone through the roof. It's a bit of a weird comparison because UGA wasn't actually bad before Kirby, but much like how Saban awoke the sleeping giant LSU, Kirby did the same to UGA. The checkbooks were not open to Richt. They are to Kirby.

UGA fans also unironically get irate whenever a team scores a touchdown on the defense right now. This level of success might bite him in the arse down the line, but at the moment his seat is ice cold.

But to put it another way, imagine if OBJ was a unanimous top 5 coach in the nation working at an LSU program that is as prestigious as we have right now. Do you think that there is any job that could pull him away? That's Kirby's situation at UGA. Lincoln Riley is a different situation because his only connection to OU is that Bob Stoops hand picked him as his successor. I don't think he'll actually leave OU, but there's a big difference between being at a top school and being at your dream job that is also a top school.

Plus do we really want somebody who goes to a salon and gets this haircut?

The story of the white whale is called Moby-Dick. It is written from the perspective of Ahab, a fisherman, who is dead set on obtaining what he has always wanted.
and for context, here’s how that turned out for Ahab:

You're kidding, right? Woodward put A&M's program in their best position to win consistently since the 90's when they had RC Slocum. They had probably their best season ever last year, and they just beat Alabama a few weeks ago.

But he's being paid top shelf money.

I figure in the end we will get the lazy Jimbo hire. 9-3 in perpetuity.

Bill Belichick - Sounds like crazy talk but is it? Why did Woodward supposedly call Saban? Now might be the right time to pass the reigns to Josh McDaniels and move on to a new challenge. He doesn't seem like the kind of person to just retire and sit around the house plus he loves to teach ball

Mother of god yes. I can’t believe we still have 3-4 more weeks of this

Honestly, I might say Oklahoma.

That brand is not going to just shrivel up and die. They're not losing any of their recruiting, it will be enhanced. Coming to the SEC didn't hurt A&M, it arguably elevated them.

OU gives you a proven offensive system that will roll out every season, something that seems more important than defense now. You're missing the defense, but that is a final tweak to the equation.

LSU on the other hand, looks to be a complete rebuild right now. You ASSUME you can continue to recruit at a very high level, but key parts of the recruiting has always come from East Texas, and you're now adding 2 more significant programs that also target that area to the SEC. Jamal Adams, today, might go to A&M (more winning program currently), or Texas or Oklahoma, instead of LSU.

Alabama has cherry-picked La talent for a decade, and now both Miss schools have very attractive offenses, if you're an elite WR prospect.
