Woodward long game was right in front of us the whole time.

Freeman becomes a candidate for the DC position after last year. Word is deal was good until last minute decision to send him to ND. Word is Woodward was vetting O replacements since last year.
Woodward sends Freeman to ND to drop seeds in BK’s ear.
Woodward fires O mid season and begins to contact BK
BK accepts position at LSU and LSU also gets the DC they wanted all along

Great conspiracy theory, but it would be better to just hire Freeman, without the baggage.

More mundane scenario. Woodward saw guys like Freeman respected Kelly and went to work for him over O. When it became obvious O had to go, go ask the guy that other coaches want to work for if he is interested.
