Yes, It is entirely possible.
Most people would have the replacement for O before they fired him. So, that might be true, but it is also true that he could have thought he had a target in mind that didn't work out and then had to move on to the next one.
I would never EVER fire O without his replacement under contract starting December 10th. NO WAY, but I'm not Scott Woodward.
It is entirely possible that all the coaches are happy where they are and Scott Woodward is scrambling or he may have his guy all sewn up. Neither belief is crazy or misplaced.

Finally someone with an objective detailed look at Woodward’s Career coaching hires. I don’t know why more fans don’t think this objectively. Do people really think the AD that got Chris Peterson away from Boise State and brought Kim Mulkey to Baton Rouge really would let Riley play him like that knowing USC was involved. If Riley really was Scott’s first choice Jimbo Fisher will be our next Head coach. If not it’s going to be someone as good or better than Riley or Jimbo I’m pretty sure we landed him in between the two jimbo denials.

Now that Riley has come and gone people are acting like he was the only “win” on the board. No. He would totally hire Stoops because of his last name but I'm calling into question if hiring him would be like dunking on everyone.
