It would take the right fit, but Fritz would be a good hire. He’s a builder not a flashy recruiter.

Exactly. He's about process and discipline, without being a drill sergeant. And Tulane has got to have that or we have no chance to win. I hope we hang on to him for another year or two, to give these coordinators more time under him so that we can hire comfortably hire internally if he leaves. The one school that concerns me is G Tech.
It's much easier to get into a bowl these days, so the bowl comparison to prior generations is a bit misleading.

I inadvertently gave you a downvote for your post, Cyborg, and it won't let me take it back. If you take them personally, feel free to give me a downer in retribution.

for the 97th time, Fritz is a Pittsburg State Gorilla, and his swansong will be taking the relay baton from Leipold at Kansas, as Leipold heads out of Lawrence soon

from Leipold at Kansas,

I could see that or Iowa State, or maybe Georgia Tech

I don't know what Fritz runs but I imagine he's at least open to a ton of option game

Bobby Ross ran some variation of the triple option at Ga Tech, then "veered" (no pun intended) to the NFL at San Diego and Detroit.

you gotta run a good amount of option game at Ga Tech

I imagine Fritz knows that

I don't think Tech will hire Fritz. He's already in his 60's with a less than stellar record at Tulane although this year he's got it rolling pretty good. I think we're after Jamey Chadwell. He's much younger and has been killing it at Coastal Carolina. Hopefully we can close the deal with him.

He's 62 years old. I seriously doubt anyone tries to take him from Tulane at this point.

If I were the AD at GA Tech, I would take a good look at him. You have to do things differently at a school like that and Fritz has proven he can build a winner at an academic-focused school.

I would take a swing at Chadwell first because his offense would be a good fit there, but I think he can aim higher than GA Tech.

I think Nebraska would be a good place for James Franklin, if he’s looking to leave.

Tulane brings its QB back next year and most of its defense. So I expect Fritz/Tulane to be near the top of its conference again. Next year.

So yes, he really is doing a hell of a job. The wheels simple came of last year. I’m not sure exactly what happened but the impact of Ida on the team last year was probably understated. They were essentially homeless from august 27 through September.

Had some personnel issues on D plus a new DC who had never been a coordinator before. Portal helped to plug those holes for this season and the DC learned quickly.
Also, Fritz replaced his RB, WR, DL, OL, S&C coaches and the OC (who thankfully left for G Tech) after last season. Brought in a special teams coach.
