Why would McElwain ...
leave the best coaching situation in the country? Working for Saban,
You answered your own question.
Posted on 12/25/08 at 10:26 am to BamaMike
Because he knows Bama will suck donkey balls next year without a QB and realizes Tuscalooser is a shite hole of a city; not to mention, Saban is a little lying prick and will leave for Penn St or USC in 2 or 3 years!

I can say with personal knowledge that Coach McElwain is having a great time in Tuscal
This is a complete contradiction
Winning 12 games allows you to over look the fun your really not having.
How do you know the skinny?
At least expand a little

Not really. I don't enjoy some of my classes because of teachers, but I still like school.

I've spoken with Coach McElwain on several occasions. He's a pretty cool guy.

You fricking gumps are amazing. There is not a person on that staff having fun. They all wonder why they put themselves through that shite everyday.

Recently about this job? Interview?
Maybe he denied it to keep it a secret?

No, I've talked to him at a party or two as well as on Lake Tuscaloosa.

If Coach McElwain even mentions NMSU I'll eat my hat.

Is really all that good?
Just curious?
I know BAMA looked great against some teams, keeping them off balance
Starts with the running game
JPW had a very good season

He is perfect in terms of what Coach Saban wants.

He wasn't very good, but he wasn't bad like he had been in previous seasons. Coach McElwain was excellent with Brandstarter while at FSU and really improved JPW's decision making.

well if LSU had JPW this year, LSU likely wins the west

If both Alabama and Florida had JPW, we'd be playing Oklahoma.
Hypotheticals are useless.

I am only trying to point out that he was good enough to win a lot of games. I was impressed with him this year
A senior at QB equals a very good season with good D, which BAMA had
LSU has had to restart the cycle all over after losing RP. Freshman can kill a team's season, confidence, etc...It happend to LSU.
Never mind

No way McElwain goes to NMST!! I'll eat my hat if that happens!
If the most recent reports are to be believed, then he has taken himself out of consideration. However, what is so intriguing about this position (and I'm thinking logically, not emotionally) is that it's almost a can't lose situation for a coordinator - Walker and McElwain would have to take a pay cut (probably), or at the very least, no more money than they are making now. Failing at NMSU would ultimately be no big shame. It wouldn't look good, but it wouldn't be all that bad. However, the bar is so low, a couple of winning seasons, hell a bowl appearance, and, BAM, you would be off to the next tier and on the way to being a highly paid Jimmy Sexton client.
