It can't be a financial decision.

I hope it's not a character issue.

Does he realize that his name will be mud?

I refuse to believe he simply doesn't care or that he's dumb. He cares and he is far from dumb.

If Ensminger is the answer, Orgeron better start asking better questions.

he won 9 games last year meddling in the offense so now he thinks he’s the greatest coach in the planet?

He is incompetent at being the head coach for LSU in the SEC in 2018. Therefore, he is insecure about the limit of his abilities. That insecurity, as emotions often do, override logic. Therefore he’d rather a friend tell him, “you can do it, buddy!” than a highly skilled guy like Canada say “get out my way and let me do what you paid me the most of any OC in college FB to do!” That’s it, plain and simple!

His hollow promises were to sell his snake oil to a brainless AD. He's a complete con man. Stupid, but cunning. And he feels emboldened because he's watched employees, the SEC and other schools in the SEC all get over on Alleva to the point he's oozing confidence. And feels safe with a SJW, cheapskate University President that likes his low salary, a good old boy crew that is loving having their inside access back that Saban took away, and a Governor that's too busy trying to raise taxes to intervene. It is the perfect storm of morons.

Always remember this- Syracuse, a place where O has actual connections, refused to interview him for their HC opening

It's a very good question. I've had doubts about the Ensminger news for a while because it just made no sense...even from Orgeron's completely selfish point of view.

But, I guess you have to consider that hiring a good coordinator isn't like shopping off the shelf. And he may know he doesn't have any idea how to do it. That's probably why he has become so reliant on those he has already worked with. Those people were already vetted by good coaches.

Once you realize that the circle of potential hires is very small, you can logically come to the realization that Ensminger very well may be the best hire he can land.

Orgeron has taken a lot of heat since he was hire. Honestly, this limitation is by far the biggest problem. It guarantees failure. I honestly think success was a possibility if he was able to bring in a top OC.

If/when Ensminger is hired, you can start the clock. They won't survive a year.
