If LSU’s loss Friday affected the timing of a possible offer for Miles to become the next coach at Michigan, he wasn’t discussing it with reporters.

quote:

“I’m not looking up,” Miles said. “I’ve got a great team. I’ve got a team that has the opportunity to play for the conference championship. (I’m) giving little or no thought to anything beyond this Saturday.”

If he is really not interested it should be easy to do right?

I like Miles, but Michigan is the next Notre Dame. Career suicide. Miles will continue to post 10 win seasons for the next few yrs here at LSU, and while the next Michigan coach gets fired. Then here we are again.

LSU is in great shape to land a bonafied gunslinger now, and now is the time for Miles to move on.

I agree. IMO Miles will never be appreciated at LSU, and our fanbase continues to have a Saban problem.

Either way, he needs to decide something and move on it. If he's staying, he needs to just say it and get on the recruiting trail. This could be a huge year for LSU, regardless of winning the title or not. If Miles started on the living room circuit right now, we could set up for a great recruiting class. If he just screws around and then bails in January, it will have a negative effect on this program.

I wish the administration would get aggressive. Miles needs to crap or get off the pot. If he won't get on board and dreams of going somewhere else, let him go now and let's make the best decisions for LSU.

My worst nightmare is that he daydreams away the rest of this season, losing the next two games, then doesn't get the michigan job. Then we're stuck with someone who is going to be awfully unpopular.

IF he doesn't win this weekend, he'd better go. UNLESS, of course, he makes a committtment to LSU before the game. Call Michigan and tell them you are not interested.

Silence speaks volumes. We are not hearing any rumors out of MI. I believe they are working on a deal.

Come on, LSU Admin, act in the best interests of LSU.

If rumors about Ferentz had merit, Miles would know, and act accordingly.

For what it is worth, Mich knew Lloyd was leaving in Sept (rumored to be related to health - some say Parkinsons). They had no list of candidates. The search committee was just formed and is beginning to do its due-diligence on many "names" to establish the candidate list (you would need a "clean" profile just to get on the list). Even so, they are not contacting any candidates but rather reviewing them via third parties (prior school administrations, players, assistanct coaches, opposing coaches, community organizations, etc.) This will be important when they do choose, because they will also be answering many questions about "Why not so-and-so?"

Mich is not likely to interfere in anyone's season or bowl game efforts. It would offend their sense of propriety. The due diligence is the way to understand about candidates from an arms-length perspective. Expect that to take about 3-weeks time. They are also not likely to raid the Big Ten. That would be unseemly to them as well.

The current recruiting class has been contacted and is staying (so they say), and Lloyd has left room, both visits and scholarships, available for the new guy to effect a good, albeit short, close. So Mich does not feel any pressure on that front to move quickly at this time.

Les may be the choice, but he doesn't know a thing at this point, so what is he going to say? No coach, especially one with an agent, is going to take himself out of any discussion, because it helps determine market value. Even if Les wants to stay, he needs to be in the mix so he/his agent understand what he is worth now, after three very productive years at LSU.

Michigan likely won't make any announcement until after their bowl game because they don't want to take the focus off of Lloyd and his last game, which is starting to look like the Alamo Bowl, unless OSU gets pulled into the BCS title game.

Not exactly sure what we want LSU to do. Miles has one school and one school only he would be interested in. HEck he might take a pay cut. On the othyer hand we have Tuberville who is floating his name all over the place it appears through his agents.

THe Michigan thing will be over soon enough.

Because it would hurt his bargaining position with LSU. Because of the ridiculous pressure put upon college coaches to win at all costs, they have to make their money while they can. Today's hero is tomorrow's goat. Just the way it is.

then why the hell didn't Lloyd wait to retire, until at least, all the conference championships had been played. He screwed LSU and had to know it would cause some shite down here.

I'm going to be really pissed off if Michigan doesn't offer him the job

...yeah, but I like Tubby at Auburn, it makes them a good rival, and it's a safe bet to beat alabama every year, and it's always fun to watch them melt down. Especially after paying for Saban.

Total agreement.

The negotiations were supposed to start last week b/w LSU and his agent.

Seeing all the post of people wanting Tubberville here is really eye opening. The man that got croomed this year and averages 4 losses a year in his 9 years at Auburn they believe will be better. He's only won one SEC in those nine years but they believe he's better.

You can't blame Miles, now that the National Title is off the table, he needs to keep that doubt out there to get an extension and raise.

Back to back to back 10 win years in the SEC warrants a raise and when you consider the following coaches have not done anything similar and neither did Nick Saban while at LSU. Tuberville, Richt, Spurrier, Meyer, etc

Would it really do any good? Saban said the same thing "I will not be the next coach at Alabama" or something close. He has ruined it for any other coaches. Even if Miles would say it,would anyone believe him?
