yep, the guy can coach an offense, but you have to consider is he that great a genius, considering he's had a top 3 defense every year he's been OC at Alabama? a defense that scores and keeps giving him the ball back with good field position. Or is he just a good OC?

He wouldnt have anyone telling him to run the damn ball like Saban does. Without Saban, Kiffins offense would look like Green Bays, throwing 85% of the time

Multiple people with a whole lot more football knowledge than all of us here keep offering him avenues to success.
Nick Saban included, so multiple millionaires have requested his services.
All of them must recognize something.
The team he happens to be leading when it all comes together is going to be very fortunate.

His last job offer, which of course he took, was to be a OC and nothing more than that. When is the last time he was seriously considered as a HC candidate by any program? After his past failures as a HC are we sure he even wants to be one again? Where has he made this clear. Perhaps even with his ego he know understands he is fine as a OC but not as a HC.
And just because he has worked under Saban does not make him a better HC material now necessarily. Maybe but no guarantee. Just like Pete Carroll's influence did not help O at Ole Miss but may or may not pay off if he becomes HC at LSU.

You really can't judge him as an OC. He works with the best talent available , with the best defense around to get the ball back for him in good field position. I've seen nothing to indicate greatness. I would trust ensminger any day over Kiffen for OC at LSU. Ensminger is developing a good track record game by game.

He's had 3 head coaching opportunities and failed at all three. I don't know why anyone would want to give him a fourth chance. He's a great offensive coordinator - way better than i ever gave him credit for but I cannot fathom hiring him as the head coach of LSU.
Plus as good a coordinator as he is there is still something just super smarmy about that dude.

As bad as I hate to say it I think he's a great coach in the making. But I think he ends up in the NFL later on much later. He is very young also. His name is what got him those HC jobs but was to young to manage them. He's learning from Saban then when he leaves Alabama, Sark will be the next OC for Saban and Saban will fix him also. There's a pattern there. Wait 10 yrs from now and see where the 2 are then.

I'm with you. Not arguing he's a good OC, but there are many good OC's. I don't share the same love other's share with Kiffin.
I'd like to add, tho: I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he winds up being our OC (barring a HC position next year) if O is named our HC.Not saying it'll happen, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did.

He didn't fail at Tennessee and he had heavy sanctions to deal with at USC.
