what is so wrong with wanting orgeron to be a successful HC prior to LSU hiring him as it's HC?
No need for the "I bet he's learned from his mistakes" mentality when he can go and provide empirical evidence to support his assertions.

there is nothing rational or intelligent about elevating his interim experience above his actual HC experience

I don't know I even thought I could get through to some you tunnel visioned folks.

O wants to succeed because he loves LSU. He is a great motivator and recruiter. The players and fanbase are excited again.
Why don't y'all ask the players if O is the right guy?

Why do you think we need to wait to fit his scheme? Herman went 13-1 his first year at Houston.
This is my problem with the people who are such devout Herman for LSU head coach cheerleaders. Yes he went 13-1 in his first year in a little league conference. How is his second year going? Losing to Navy, getting stomped by SMU and barely getting past Tulsa with a #6 ranked team in his second year scares me.

You think Houston just happened to have every piece needed to fit his scheme?
Apparently, the previous staff provided enough for Tom to be successful his first year, not so much the second year. Herman has never been a head coach with a team he built or maintained. He is still using the majority of the previous staff's players.

They didn't need to wait very long..
Until everything started to go downhill. Yeah, hire a minor league one-year-wonder at LSU. Do great the first year and then get progressively worse each year after. Is that what LSU fans want?

Never ask the players!! Last time that was done, we ended up with Mike Archer as our head coach!

So let me get this straight, any coach that makes great halftime adjustments is a great coach, but a coach cannot make halftime adjustments to their career. Got it!

No there certainly is not and that's why this is frustrating to watch.
The rationale behind wanting this guy truly shocks me. It's almost cult like.

You guys don't get it. According to the no to O crowd he is a big dumb Cajun incapable of learning or "figuring it out". No matter what he will always be the guy that sucked at Ole Miss. Any accomplishments after that must always carry an "*".
Yet, he is also an evil genius capable of launching a PR campaign that has fooled the CFB world that only a few savvy internet ADs can see through all of the smoke and mirrors. He's even fooled his own staff including Moffit and Craig who have heaped praise on O's new approach. He's fooled his players as well. They think they are actually good and well coached. When will they come to their senses?
I tend to be more of a black and white, no-nonsense kind of person, but there actually is some genius to what O is doing. Say "if" he gets the job. The infusion of excitement he is putting into the program excites the fan base on the street and in the stands. Bringing in high profile speakers (The Rock, maybe) creates a buzz. All the things he's doing creates an aura around the program. How do you think that attracts today's 17-18 year old kid looking for the school where is going to play football and the university that will be his home the next 4 years?
We don't have to build a program from the ground up. The foundation is here. We just need to reach the next level. We historically pay coordinators well so we will get good people. I've posted articles already Moffit, Craig and Ensminger discussing tangible results. There is a long way to go to see if O is the man for the job. Is he the most qualified? Nope. But, I also believe in the philosophy of right man, right place, right time. Sometimes you want a sports car when you need a pick up truck.

The players loved Les Miles.

Players love him and he lets his coordinators do their jobs.

I mean he has more than likely learned a lot since ole miss and has become a better coach. It is not by happenstance that he had success at USC and now at LSU.

The last time LSU players were asked who they wanted as HC we ended up with Mike Archer. Not a good idea.

LSU is too big of a program to hire a HC with his track record alone
It's funny people say this but in the next post will try to tell you a guy who has NO track record would be the best hire ever at LSU.
Coach O has four national championship rings. Two of those were when he was an associate head coach - Whatever that is.
I'm also not totally on the O band wagon but he does some positives in addition to his stint at perennial powerhouse Ole Miss.
