Are you? I am and have been for sometime. My first stint certainly left a lot to be desired, and I get better with every new opportunity. Why? Because I learn from each of those opportunities what works and what doesn't. That applies to any position where leadership is required.

Coach O is doing well with the cropduster, which is why he deserves consideration.

I've said that I am NOT "Team O". I just find the rejection of him as silliness. He is, and deserves to be, a candidate

He has been in the pilot seat of two very nice airframes....he's handled them very well in emergency situations.

That is ALL I am saying. I am NOT advocating "For"....I am rejecting the "Against" at this time

Herman?
While he's a great coach, do we have people that fits his offensive scheme? How long until we do?

Why do you think we need to wait to fit his scheme? Herman went 13-1 his first year at Houston. You think Houston just happened to have every piece needed to fit his scheme? They didn't need to wait very long..

No. Coach O never took off with the jet.

I hate this analogy.

Obviously he will and is being considered.

It doesn't mean he is the best candidate for the job, which is all I want.

He wants the LSU job?

1) His arse better win out
2) Go to a smaller school and prove that he has learned from his mistakes

LSU is too big of a program to hire a HC with his track record alone

My feelings exactly. A lot of factors need to be considered when hiring the next HC. Hiring an "LSU guy" or someone that has a .873 record after 2 years at another school aren't guarantees of success in this program. I just don't understand the foolish dismissal of Coach O simply because of his record at Ole Miss years ago.

All hail our 3-21 new head coach.

This is the worst argument for why O isnt fit for the job.

People change. They learn how to sharpen their craft. Not saying O is perfect, but I bet he is a lot better of a HC than he ever was at Ole Miss. Give this argument a rest and choose to see that He is now our 3-0 HC.

I rather take a chance with O than Herman. O is emotionally invested in LSU and will make the necessary changes to bring about success. Herman is looking to advance his career. I'll take the guy who cares about the school and the state versus Mr. Popular. O knows who to go get to coach up the talent we bring in.

Yea but did they get an opportunity to be a pilot, then fail at it and never be offered another opportunity to fly again ?? That's more telling then his record at Ole Miss

I disagree. I think his last two interim jobs are more important measures of his ability to lead a team.

Let me give you a hypothetical

Would you willing to hire the Florida D-Line coach if he had the exact same track record as Coach O?

Would you dismiss his 3-21 record in conference play when he was HC at Ole Miss?

Selecting a head coach is a calculated risk and definitely not a science. Just look around at the schools that are struggling. Relative success at prior schools is a factor but not the only factor. As the saying goes, "What have you done for me lately?" I'm not sold on any coach, yet. I hope that CEO runs the table. Not bc I want him as a coach, but if he does, it means LSU has succeeded. And should he run the table, the adm would be hard pressed to not offer the job to him.

Let's wait and see what happens in the next month. A 2-3 or 4 game skid-- I'm guessing no one is as excited about Coach O.

how? being an interim coach is all about motivating, which O is great at, but the responsibilities of an interim coach pale to that of a real HC

it is nothing like being a HC, where you have to recruit your own players, hire your own assistants, manage the entire program, etc

interim coaches have no pressure to succeed, head coaches do

Nobody is dismissing his failures. Some of us are looking at the entire portfolio, which is what rational, intelligent, leaders do.
