Hire a Director of Football Operations (we may have one) and let the front office and recruiting directors get busy finding talent. Let the coaching staff coach. NFL coaches will have had experience dealing with prima donnas and can make adjustments based upon their players they have versus forcing players to fit their scheme. This way, they figure out the recruiting part and the coaching part and make us more like a pro team. If you do that, you open the doors to a lot more candidates.
That’s a crazy concept for some to understand, but it just might work. It also could blow up in our faces and we become even worse off than before. There’s that too.

I thought we were already morphing into an NFL like program with Austin Thomas playing an equivalent role of GM and/or director of personnel?

It's a natural reaction to the changing landscape of college football.
