O's job is potentially on the line. Not sure why he would risk it just promoting from within

If this fails badly, he aint gonna get another shot to fix it.

Because he’s never called a defense before, that’s why. He’s a great DB coach, but would you let someone who has never driven before borrow your car? Probably not.

Every d coordinator has not called played until someone gives them a chance

Why not just use your brain and think of why they should not?

Never called plays.

Why not just hire someone who has experience and is good at it?

Why not use the board set up to discuss coaching changes?

I dont doubt his knowledge but. being a position coaching and calling a D are very different tasks and skill sets.

Not saying he would be bad but thats a major unknown. Considering LSU just came off a 5-5 season with one of the worst D's we have ever fielded, not sure this is the hill to die on.

That argument backfired for y’all

Why not Fred Mcguillicutty? Because you and I have no idea if he’s any good. You want LSU to suck? Just hire some average coaches.

Correct. And when given the opportunity, many of them fail. O doesn’t have that luxury.

If this was the best option I think we'd have done this after aranda. Either he doesn't wanna be a DC or they have a strong reason to believe he wouldn't be a really good one. He's good where he's at and if he's happy let it go.
