Why isn't Brent Venables getting much hype?

He's perhaps the best defensive coordinator in college over the last 4 seasons.

Some guys are just meant to be coordinators. Look at Norm Chow. Took him 40 years to finally get a head coaching gig and he flopped at Hawaii. Was one of the top OC in college football for years. Now he coaches high school football.

I always wonder why people are so convinced Aranda is a guaranteed future head coach.

Chow and Foster stayed with the same head coach for decades. That's just not how you prepare yourself to be a head coach. And Foster - even when Beamer retired, he still didn't want to leave VPI.
Venables has moved around some...pretty solid resume. I think he'd be ready, if he's interested in being a head coach.
