He had 3 good years from 2002-2004 going 11-2 10-3 10-2 but the rest of the time he was average or flat stunk. the rest of the years at Iowa he was 1-10, 3-9, 7-5, 7-5, 6-7, 6-6. Not so hot. His overall record is 73-70.

I don't know. He had some good years a few years ago but I don't know what Iowa's problem is.

Apparently the woman president of michigan was the president of iowa when he was hired. hence the connection. but 19-18 over the past 3 years in the big 10 sucks. why the hell are they paying that guy $3 million?

I think he has some pro ties, learned under some big names, and was highly thought of for winning 10 games/yr at Iowa, which, when you think of their status in the Big 10, can't be easy.

much like les at okie lite, he's viewed as having done 'more with less' than his opponents.

alot of people seem to respect how 'clean' his program is run, and how much of a disciplinarian he's thought to be.

throw out the first 2 years, because he took over a garbage program.

its is difficult to win at Iowa consistently, ithink most people think he would win more at a better program, they have been medicore the last 3 years, not terrible

doesn't have much talent. i know part of coaching is recruiting but he does get a lot out of the guys he has.

he seems like one of those guys that may show a lot of promise at a Michigan or LSU, but after a few years he'll be exposed for just an average coach

yeah i don't get the hype on this guy. it's one thing to be les at ok state in the shadow of a national powerhouse OU, but iowa's closest thing to in state competition is iowa state and that's def not saying much

Look at how many players he signs from Iowa every year. I looked over the past few years. He may sign maybe 3-5 out of a class of 20. He has done as good a job at Iowa as can be done. His only problem is he stayed to long. He didn't leave for a stronger program with more chance of success like Urban Meyer, etc. Do you really think getting 20% of your players from in-state in a place like Iowa anybody could best that?

I agree. I've made that point myself? What really has Ferentz done besides beat LSU in the Cap One Bowl?
