6) LSU likely has to beat Saban anyway if they want to win a national championship. Assuming he left for Texas and wins the conference most years you'll probably see him at that point.
7) LSU beating Saban at Bama and winning a NC reverses a lot of the present narrative. Suddenly it is 3 championships to 2, an even regular series result, and LSU has an edge in SEC championships (2007, 2011, 2014? for LSU to 2009, 2012 for Bama). It would also further cement LSU as the superior SEC program over the present century when it comes to SEC titles, winning percentage, and National Championships

2011 Bama and 2013 Bama are/were both great teams. I wouldn't be upset in the slightest if 2013 Bama got to play Auburn again (as they would if the 4 team playoff were in effect this year).
And after LSU got into the natty with a 2 loss team I find it a little hollow that we would deny a one loss team a shot at playing for the natty.
We need the 4 team playoff so this can be settled at year's end. Okie State deserved a shot in 2011 too but not at Bama's expense. 4 is good enough, 8 would be better. It will give the SEC more chances to win it all.

If people don't expect some rematches to happen in the final four playoffs next year and beyond, they are gonna be disappointed.
My Auburn friend and I were talking about this. If the playoffs were happening this year, the best thing Bama could have done was lose the Iron Bowl on a close/freak play like that.
We sit at home while Auburn risks losing the spot in the SECCG.
Though you never know what will happen with this committee.

when the playoffs expand to 6 or 8 teams you will definitely end up with at large bids and therefore increased likelihood of rematches. With possibly rare exceptions I think the 4 team system will be heavily biased towards representation for conference champions and leave out in teh cold teams that think they were great but lost games they needed to win.

I agree with your reasons BUT the arrogance of bama fans trumps all of those for me. I want to see them melt down. One of my best friends is a gump and he still says if saban leaves they will thank him for what he has done and wish him well...bullshite, if he takes another job they will be pissed.

I don't want him in Texas because of the recruiting.
You got 5* recruits like Ed Paris, Tony Brown, and Jamal Adams that I think Saban would make it a tough decision for them to leave the state if he were in Texas. Hell he's doing it with Tony Brown NOW at Alabama.

Full disclosure. I want him to leave to drink the tears of the Bama faithful, not because I want Bama to suck. I enjoy our sqaubble with Bama every year. AJ has been the difference the last couple of times, I'm more glad he is leaving than if Nick leaves.

The other thing I like is that it keeps the SEC brand strong.
Nobody may want to admit it, but Saban did for the SEC what Bertman did for baseball.
There's a reason the SEC is 7 straight in BCSNC's and it starts with Saban's arrival at LSU in 2000 and his first title in 2003.
Everyone has had to raise their game to compete with what he put on the field.
That's the way I like it.
