Because he doesn't have a winning record against any teams of note

I don’t dislike or like the man or the coach. I dislike the fact LSU maybe throwing everything built in the last 20 years down the drain to be woke. He’s not a hot named up and comer and he’s not a proven national contender coach. So why is he first on the list supposedly?? Because of his race but yet they are trying to fight racism. Makes zero sense.

If LSU hires Mel tucker then SW would have massively failed at his job.

It’s not that I don’t think he’s a good coach, but there’s absolutely nothing that puts him at the top of any list for a HC job like LSU.

Except those that look at Saban's record against former assistants - 24-1

What did Nick Saban really do at Michigan State before LSU???

I don't get the Tucker hate at all. He checks alot of boxes. More than the last two coaches that won National Championships here at at LSU.

Saban was at Michigan State for 5 seasons and was the HC at Toledo before that. He went

1990 Toledo: 9-2
1995 Michigan State: 6-5-1
1996 Michigan State: 6-6
1997 Michigan State: 7-5
1998 Michigan State: 6-6
1999 Michigan State: 9-2

So he was 43-26-1 as a HC before we hired him. We had also only one 1 national championship at that point and we've now won 3 more in 20 years, which certainly elevates the profile of the program. Lets not forget how bad we were in the 80's and 90's.

His attention to detail and process reminds of Saban.

Aranda is also highly intelligent and process-oriented, was more successful as a college DC and has been almost as successful turning Baylor around after a tough season in 2020. And he has a great track record here and connections throughout LA. Please tell me how he isn’t easily the superior candidate?

Last I checked, Saban was there longer and was beating Michigan and ND on the field and in recruiting.

Also, we aren’t coming off the worst decade in LSU football history today. We are coming off 3 titles under 3 different coaches in the last 20 years with no losing seasons. We don’t have to reach, and Mel Tucker with the resume he has today is absolutely a fricking reach.

this is frankly 90% of it, his record as a HC is slim, some prefer more experience.

He won’t have LSU competing for championships. He would have them between 8-4 and 10-2.

LSU should just hire the best coach possible. I just don’t think Tucker is the best possible candidate.

Not enough time as a HC and let's see how the remainder of Michigan State's season plays out.

Its only 7 game dude. 7 and what level of competition has MS faced? One, one top 20 team that currently has a 2-4 record. No team Mich State faced this year has a winning record and some have been squeakers.

Pump the breaks and lets see where this goes. Tucker is a reach. LSU according to many is in a position to land a proven coach.

I don’t think anyone is close to the radar on this hire yet. The same things happened with the baseball HC hire. Everyone said it was one name and he kept the actual target flying under the radar. This seems to be something he likes to do when hiring at a huge buzz type team like LSU. This gets National attention quickly and he knows it. I’m sure he’d rather have zero noise about his true hire so that he can get a clear evaluation and be able to pay a reasonable sum for the new HC. No media distractions or fan distractions.
