Why don’t Clemson’s Co-OCs get any buzz?

I am Mostly asking Tiger Rangers because the word on the Rant is that Dabo is basically a figure head HC like O, and that he doesn’t run the offense.
Clemson ha Co-Coordinators. You think someone would at least try and snag one, but it hasn’t happened.

Our D/C, Brent Venables gets paid over 2 million a year to coach one side of the ball. He also has a son that just started at Clemson. He also is coaching one of the best defenses in the nation competing for national titles....He is in a great place to cherry pick the right job.
I will say that if Dabo ever were to leave for Bama or the NFL as those rumors like to marinate that Venables would get the Clemson job and that may be in his master plan.
Tony Elliot would be the Offensive Guy to get called. I sort of thought Georgia Tech would have come calling because not only is he a good coach and recruiter, but also an Engineer with a degree from Clemson.
Again. Clemson pays their coaches so well that they don't have to jet for any shite-job.
With that said, you can stay too long like Bud Foster and VT who I feel is no longer a viable HC candidate.
If Lincoln Riley takes and NFL job, I wouldn't be surprised to see Oklahoma at least talk to Venables since he used to be the C0-D/C there.

Neither of your Co-OCs make even a million dollars. They are both Clemson Alumns, but money talks.

Agreed. They both mentored under Chad Morris. They have essentially continued the offense he installed at Clemson. They have made some modifications that I think were for the better, but they have 2 guys doing the job that Morris did and that added a QB coach in Brandon Streeter (Clemson Grad) to baby sit the QB's and keep their heads in the game.
I certainly think that the Offensive guys are more up for grabs to move on. Hovever, so many schools are running the HUNH that it may be a flooded market of able coaches. What Venables is doing is a little more rare.

I mean Venable’s is an elite DC and you have to wonder if he’s ever going to make the move to HC at this point.
I thought Maybe he was waiting on Kansas State but that’s come and gone.
Your OCs feel like the kind on guys tonget picked off. At least one of them.
And they just put out a top 5 offense

I'm sure he could have had the job if he wanted it, but I think his son playing for him at Clemson is a huge anchor.
As far as K-State, he could never get the talent he needs to compete at a level like Oklahoma or Texas is capable of. He would live in the world of 2 and 3 stars and work the JUCO's and I just think he's at a point where the K-State job would be a step down.
To quote Milton, would you rather rule in hell or serve in heaven?

It’s his Alma Mater and he’s an amazing coach.
Have to wonder what’s he waiting for ornif he’s even waiting? His kids enrolled. Does he play Football?

Just because it's his Alma Mater doesn't assure he wants to Head Coach there.
I've been to Kansas and I can't say I would want to live there. I'm sure the people are nice, both of them. There's not a lot to do out there and the South is such a nicer place to live and it's some of the best recruiting grounds in the nation.
I think when he son graduates is when he'll start serious thinking about the next level.

because the very nature of being a "Co-Coordinator" means you arent good enough to do the job alone

Clemson, Alabama, New England, OSU dominate is because of the head coach.
LSU is mediocre for the same reason.

Well if Auburn wasn't so fricking broke and could have bought Gussie Poo out, it would have been a little more fun.

Brent is not beloved there like his Clemson. If I remember right his defenses weren't all that great.

I believe he was a CO-DC with one of the Stoops brothers for a period of time. All I know is when he came to Clemson and was given the keys to the store it was a solid fit and Stoops was fired in a few years by his brother. How much freedom did he have to run the defense there compared to at Clemson?

Alabama has used co-coordinators on both sides of the ball for a few years now. They keep getting hired away anyway.

It's his alma mater but not a big job.
Maybe he's waiting on a UGA type opening like Kirby.
