Why doesn't FSU have the money to pay top assistant coaches?

Today, Hanny said that Jimbo's primary motivation for taking the job would be the ability to pay (and retain) top assistant coaches.
My question: Why doesn't FSU have the funds to afford top assistant coaches? It's one of the best programs in America; why not allocate a little bit more money towards assistant coaches?

Maybe boosters dont want to pony up/board members wont approve?

I've never heard of a top head coach leaving a top program because the program wouldn't spend money on assistant coaches. It seems like a minor obstacle that could easily be resolved.

How many times has this been shot down? FSU is in the top 10 in asst coach pay

If FSU has money for assistant coaches, why did FSU hire Charles Kelly as a DC? If FSU has money for top assistant coaches, why are all Baton Rouge radio personalities stating otherwise?

Kelly was Jimbo's screw up. Pruitt's departure was not about money

So Jimbo hired a DC with no DC experience because he thought that would be a good decision?

Seemed questionable at the time, but he likes Kelly. It was too bad Pruitt couldn't control himself

LSU fans don't trust O to hire an offensive coordinator, but they trust a guy who hired Charles Kelly to hire our next DC.

Well if Jimbo screws up a DC hire, we at least have a decent offense to help out and we can fix the mistake.
If O messes up a hire, he has no expertise to hang his hat on and is purely depending on the coordinators for all things X's and O's. He would be in over his head.

Jimbo has been way too loyal. Greg Hudson is the only guy I think he pushed out. That was due to his drinking issues.
FSU lost quite a few coaches after the 2012 season. All of those guys got a promotion when they left. Since then they have lost only 2 coaches. Pruitt and Sal Sunseri who left for the Raiders

The Head Hawg left Whisky for this very reason and he was the HC at the time. His staff turn over in the years he was there was over 50%. Jimbo was bitching about this the year after he won the NC. Not sure as to the why but it seems to be an on going problem.

It's not an ongoing problem. FSU stepped up the last couple years

We don't trust O because of Ole Miss. Yeah, it was that bad.
