Why does the coach need to have previous HC experience?

Honest question.

All I see is, "they have to have head coaching experience!"

Why?

Ryan Day didn't. Joey McGuire didn't. Marcus Freeman didn't. Kirby Smart didn't. Dan Lanning didn't. Brent Venables didn't. Clark Lea didn't. It goes on and on.

You know what they DID have in common? They were young guys, hungry, willing to recruit their asses off in the current landscape of college football, and they came from places that had a winning culture.

I don't think head coaching experience should be anywhere near a top requirement.

Bc that's the only names people on this board know. It's lazy and short sighted. I hope our AD does a more thorough search this time
