He coaches the same side of the ball as Saban. Who knows how much input he really has.

Also, Saban disciples have been a dumpster fire as head coaches so far. Why is Smart different?

He isn't much different but the cult of Saban lives. Numerous rantards wanted to replace Les with Dooley two seasons ago.

Well that was a little different in that at least now we have some evidence that maybe Saban guys aren't all that good.

I don't get the craze either.

He is like Garrick McGee, except he isn't proven without Saban.

Only time will tell if he will be a good coach or not. The reason I would like for him to come to Ole Miss is because I atleast think he could field a competent staff, something that our last coach couldn't even fathom. I also don't get all the hate on Dooley. Yes he is from the Saban coaching tree but he was a mainly a special teams coach for Saban. I don't hold him to the same standard as Muschamp who was Saban's DC.

I don't have a clue. He comes from a good program and is associated with a recruiting machine that is Alabama but who knows whether or not he has the other tools to be a successful head coach? He'll get a shot eventually if that is what he wants to do.

Why does everyone consider Muschamp and Fisher Saban disciples when they each coached under TWO coaches between Saban and becoming a HC?

Experience carrying Saban's jock is one of the items on the prerequisite list for many AD's searching for a new coach.

Smart has fully demonstrated his abilities in this meeting this criteria.

I dont think he will be. Everything associated with NS is overrated. All his players get over drafted, his ex coaches blow, and he loses at home to lose the sec west but still gets a free pass for les owning him.

To know Saban should give you a clue. He coaches 24/7 and the coaches stand on the side with thumb in mouth. NO IMPUT. The main training that they get is to follow orders and have no opinions. IMHO. That is why Dooley is having such a struggle....learning on the job.
