People on this site crucified Les Miles for winning JUST LIKE THIS GUY HAS THIS YEAR. Against 3 teams with a combined 5-15 record his mighty offense has beaten them by a total of 12 points. He was flat out out-coached my that SEC reject at Arky St. I’m done with mediocrity.

i don't get why the anti-Napier sentiment is so strong from some, it's pretty ridiculous

It's strange how angry it makes certain posters, like OP and Tigers1988 or whatever previously ITT.

I think most people don't have Napier as their #1 choice, but would be happy with the hire. It's just the fact that he makes a few posters so angry and make shite up in their heads like OP, that causes other posters to push for Napier even more

The coaching in his conference has been recently raised by an SEC reject in Butch Jones and all of a sudden his awesome skills look like what they are.

Lol wut

Napier beat Butch Jones head to head literally last week

And it cracks me up you said that "LSU would beat ULL THIS SEASON HURRDURR " like that's some sort of gotcha. Here's a reminder: ULL is still in the Sunbelt and has Sunbelt level talent, all Napier can do is win the games on the schedule and he's doing just that

I purposefully watched 2 games he has coached in this season and like others have posted he struggled against weak arse competition where there was a clear advantage in recruiting. The results are is he is at best average in his conference. The coaching in his conference has been recently raised by an SEC reject in Butch Jones and all of a sudden his awesome skills look like what they are.

Fortunately for LSU you’re not the person judging talent.

Recruiting against Coach Saban is hard for any recruiter. Recuirting at Auburn in the state of Alabama is even harder.

You’d be willing to risk your first big head coaching gig at Auburn? You’d want to be in the same state as Nick Saban fighting over the same kids in that state? Really?

You honestly think that’s the smartest move and best job to take?
I mean come on.

We never talked to him. This is an LSU talking point. We pinged the Clemson coordinator(s), Mario and Harsin. Requesting a plan from all.

Thank you for clarifying. I always considered it an LSU rumor, and at best he was interested but Auburn simply passed on him.

Well a direct quote from our AD was Auburn offered him $5.2M/yr but not full control of the staff.

Who's AD? UAB's AD claimed we were talking to Clark and we never spoke with him, either. It isn't a knock on either coach, but Napier or Clark were never spoken to about AU. Our AD knew Harsin personally, and he was the #1 target from the jump.

Not just an LSU rumor, it's been out there from other sources as well and was discussed pretty widely when the AU job was open

He is looking for a Lincoln Riley setup. Hand him the keys to a Ferrari.

Auburn was forcing assistants on him - that's why he turned it down.

In addition, when we hired him he said one of the main selling points was us giving him such a large assistant coach salary pool (for a G5 program). I don't know if he specifically called out having the autonomy of hiring his own assistants here because that was implied at a program like ours.

That just shows how little you know about him and how little you have done any homework before posting this.

Forget it. He isn't going to read that article. He's too busy trying to convince people he knows something when he knows nothing about the guy. He's just posting baseless BS because he doesn't want Nappier even though he knows nothing about the guy. I bet he was all hot to trot on Herman.
