Because he wanted the LSU job and the writing was on the wall for Coach O for anyone with eyes.

This is the only answer.

If they played LSU TODAY, they would get their asses handed to them. That’s with his “great recruiting” prowess. Dude is what he is a mid level program coach. Fleck was much more impressive.

How is what Fleck did at Western Michigan more impressive

Auburn was forcing assistants on him - that's why he turned it down.

i don't get why the anti-Napier sentiment is so strong from some, it's pretty ridiculous

Napier sprinted away from a job he knew he couldn't handle. Simply knew he wasn't capable of being successful at a top-15 job.

Yea. That’s exactly what happened lol

Kinda hope he gets it just to watch you cry because you didn't get your way, again.

This seems like the correct answer, but is this legit or just what people think?

Was it the same thing being forced for Bryan Harsin?
Who were they forcing him to hire?
Derek Mason (DC), Mike Bobo (OC), Cadillac Williams?

Seems like Bryan Harsin brought at least 5-6 guys with him from Boise.

And just to head em off at the pass - many posters would have us believe that he turned down SC, USC, Va Tech, Texas, Bethune Cookman, Sewanee, etc, etc.

None of which are true.

THe ONLY reason, he's at ULL.

He's not my leader, but I would be perfectly happy with him.

Seems to of proved it somewhat this year. He has 7 new coaches on staff and is 6-1. He sustained the same level of success as previous years with an entirely overhauled coaching staff

I purposefully watched 2 games he has coached in this season and like others have posted he struggled against weak arse competition where there was a clear advantage in recruiting.
The results are is he is at best average in his conference. The coaching in his conference has been recently raised by an SEC reject in Butch Jones and all of a sudden his awesome skills look like what they are.

People on this site crucified Les Miles for winning JUST LIKE THIS GUY HAS THIS YEAR.
Against 3 teams with a combined 5-15 record his mighty offense has beaten them by a total of 12 points. He was flat out out-coached my that SEC reject at Arky St.
I’m done with mediocrity.

Risk/reward analysis. You have to recruit against two schools that are the absolute best in college right now (share a state with saban and a few hours away from Kirby). That’s a built in disadvantage whereas here in Louisiana you have no competition and can even recruit Houston

Either this guy is completely full of shite and he never was offered the job or Auburn offered the job and he decided wasn't capable of building the program, which is strange for a hailed program builder.

If Napier turned down the job he admitted with that action he's not a program builder, at all.

or, and this is just a thought.......HE DIDNT WANT THE frickING AUBURN JOB
