Losing Peveto has been very costly on the recruiting trail.

Maybe Coach O didn't want to mislead recruits.

I think they did it as a service to him, he was a shite coach but from all accounts a good guy so they did him a solid.

I wouldn't have minded retaining him as recruiting coordinator as long as we kept him off the field on Saturdays.

Yea, that actually makes sense.

Peve knew as soon as Miles was let go, he would not be retained. If we would have kept him through signing day, whenever his recruits would ask if he'd still be around he wouldn't lie to them. We're take some losses on the recruiting trail this year but we'll be back on track next year with stability in the program.

No he didn't. I don't usually pipe up with inside information but no.

Do you realize how ridiculous that logic is? You're saying getting the recruits to sign and firing him would have worked out better? Does that really make sense in your mind?

Coaches do this quite often. This is why contracts run through March. In fact, Orgeron has told current assts that their contracts and their jobs will be evaluated after signing day. I am not sure why he did not do this with Peveto. Maybe he was trying to make a power move to show he is the man. Maybe he really disliked Peveto and did not trust him to go out and recruit. Who knows.

Thomas McGaughey did not leave LSU until February. It tends to work out when you keep a guy around long enough to maintain your recruits, or get more of them.

This happens all the time. Coaches leave after signing day. We have done it at LSU in the past.

So you are not in favor of giving Peveto every opportunity to find another job as soon as possible?

That would be a very shitty thing to do. Both to the coach and the recruits.

This happens everywhere. Its a business!!! Thats why coaches sign contracts that run through March!! Why is this so hard to understand? Being a nice guy rarely gives you an advantage in business!
