Why are we declaring coach O the future after these three games?

I'm really trying to understand. On what basis has he earned the title of future head coach when the meat of our season hasn't even started?

Is beating Missouri, Southern Miss and Ole Miss really sufficient? Why can't we just wait until the season plays out?

I don't get it.

We don't have very bright fans and put to much emphasis on personality and likeness in culture

not sure who is doing this - many just like what they see so far and haven't written him off yet as a candidate. Some are taking not removing him from consideration to mean OMG you just like his cajun accent and want to hire him right now to a lifetime contract after 3 games.

He has beaten 3 teams that are average at best - he needs to keep winning if he wants to be seriously considered for the job.

There's nothing to get. It's a purely emotional response to a man that talks like them.

Tiger Nation 84 and people like him. These guys are seriously pathetically dumb and naive.

Exactly. He shouldn't even be considered until we see how he fairs in November, but OP is right. There are people who want to hire him now.

Exactly.

People are jumping to conclusions bc Random started a post by saying IF O was retained ....and then talked about bringing in Kiffin. From that, it's turned into a done deal that O will be named head coach lol

It's kind of scary the difference in rationality on the Coaching Changes board and the Tiger Rant.

The conversation tends to go something like follows:

"O deserves the job"
"Why?"
"Cajun. Fires up people."
"But what about his coaching record at Ole Miss?"
"Well people can change and improve, duh."
"Are we going to gamble LSU's future like that?"
"To be frank- yes."
"Can we at least wait until the end of the season?"
"No, give him the contract now."

Everyone who gave an accurate answer already has one downvote. Some coach O NOW supporter is lurking in this thread.

Maybe it's O himself.

IMO those that want to hire him right now are being just as short sighted, if not more so than the people that won't even consider him at all.

I'm softening towards the idea of O as HC, but I'm all for letting the season pan out. I agree there are some idiots who would hire him now, but a lot of that is the anti-O crowd exaggerating our stance to emphasize their point.

Like when someone will go "man, that game stunk", they'll get a "YOU MELTING, BAW" comment. No. That's not what I'm doing at all.

I agree with this - i've been pretty consistent in my view of O but have been lumped in with people who want to hire him right this second. I like what i see so far - that's it. I'm sure if O flames out the rest of the year i'll have someone try and call me out as a prior O proponent but whatever.

I enjoy this board. There's actually intelligent conversation on this subject. Most of the stuff on the rant is ridiculous.
