What's wrong with getting a QB coach? Seems like that would be really nice to have given our issues at the position

Our current OC is the quarterback coach.
The only teams that have a dedicated QB coach are those with an OL or RB or WR coach as OC.
There is no current scenario where we would hire a dedicated QB coach. That is and should be the OC’s job.

Do you mean who will fill the slot opened by Jenkins leaving? Or do you mean who will take the new added assistant slot for next year?

I'm not op but its semantics. No mcmahon isnt taking Pete's spot but hes taking one of the two available. I think its meant as who/what position gets a coach.

Dennis Johnson, formerly the OLB coach, took Pete Jenkins' spot on the DL.
Who will replace Johnson as the OLB coach?
The answer is not McMahan, who will be added as the ST coach when the new position is added, I think on Jan. 1.
The answer is not Aranda, who is already the ILB coach.
The answer will be a new person on the defensive side of the ball not currently on staff.
Any rumors as to who that might be?

Hey dumbass it is Mcmahan. It’s been stated by numerous sources that cover LSU football. Delly, Sam, Shea. He’s the 10th assistant.

Also, Mcmahan wasn’t technically on the staff. He was an off the field assistant. Shadow staff is what they are calling.

Hey dumbass, McMahan is the 10th assistant, not Jenkins replacement. Meatball is moving to that role which literally opens up an additional coaching spot.
Follow the math -
we had 9 assistants. Jenkins left, now we have 8. McMahan joins, now we have 9 again. That leaves 1 spot open come Jan 1st.

It's gonna have to be a young coach to recruit double since we're adding another grandpa who doesn't recruit.
