Does anyone expect a dedicated special teams coach to be a recruiting stud?
If you were a 5-star recruit and a school sent the special teams coach to your house, you would be like WTF?
I am interested to see how other schools use the 10th assistant. I think special teams is a smart direction, but I'm sure other schools will have their own ideas.
I heard some schools were considering making the 10th assistant strictly a recruiting position that could travel around the whole season and recruit and not even have coaching duties. That would seem odd.

BDP was considered a recruiting stud. He just sucked as ST coach.

He also coached other positions and had previously been a DC and HC.
Poor example.

As stated earlier,McMahon is a special teams "consultant" - he can't yet coach directly due to the numbers limitation. He could direct the other group of coaches to directly coach special teams - but he could not directly coach the players. He will be the 10th assistant.

What was explained earlier in this thread is McMahon will be the 9th assistant when he is brought on as ST coach because Jenkins has left and we are now at 8 assistant coaches. So this thread was started to ask who you think will be the 10th assistant? McMahon can't be the 9th and 10th!
