When Woodward ultimately hired Jimbo? Just curious if it was Jimbo the whole time or were there smokescreens?

If I remember correctly it was leaked he was going after Jimbo and no one believed he could get it done.

Yeah it was very similar to Sully here for the baseball search. Which actually did almost happen.
Franklin is the only coach that I know of that has been reached out to. I feel like that was probably the top choice.
Jimbo getting a raise before the season was interesting timing though. I wonder if we reached out to him then.

Jimbo was always the most prominent name. The most prominent Plan B name mentioned by the media was Chad Morris (SMU), but I don't think Woodward ever seriously considered him. A&M insiders have mentioned a few times now that Justin Fuente (VA Tech) was really high up on Woodward's list and might have been the top candidate if Jimbo fell through.

I’ve seen no sources to confirm that he has.
I would not be surprised though. Be crazy not to get a “modern offense” guy. And that’s the top guy in the business imo.

It was a different situation. It was well-known that Jimbo was unhappy with the FSU administration and that he had considered leaving for LSU the previous year before Alleva backed out. The fact that he was attainable made him the top choice by miles.

Did you read the second part of that sentence where I wrote "...but I don't think Woodward ever seriously considered him."? I said Morris was a prominent name at the time among the media (still not as prominent as Jimbo), but not really among Woodward and the administration.
