Who is Texas looking at to fill their OC/DC positions ?

I read...somewhere...that Stacy Searles was in the mix at Texas. Anyone know about him? Would guess it was OL, and not OC. Or, it could have been an agent being aggressive.

have not heard about position coaches, other than Mack needing to keep Major and Duane Akina. They are VITAL to keeping their recruiting class intact. DC apprears to be priority.

They're saying that the requirements for the OC position they just listed fits David Shaw from Stanford. Norm Chow's name also came up.
Note that the requirements for the DC position were pretty much Teryl Austin's resume. So this should be a pretty good hint.

LSU has an available OC, his name, Gary Crowton. He would be just the fit for Gilbert, probably turn him into a Heisman candidate. We hate to let him go, however, we understand the stress you are under. We are willing to sacrifice our program to keep our sister state in good standing. UT fans will not be happy with Norm Chow. David Shaw - maybe. Stanford guys are all scrambling which sucks because the Orange Bowl had potential to be a good game.
I know this, if Major does not have a "major" role in the offense (like OC) he will leave. UT fans and their recruiting class will not be happy (see Malcolm Brown).

Major has not proven he can run an offense...What I don't get is a school with the reputation like Texas, and they aren't going after big name coordinators....it's not as if money is an issue...seems like coordinators would be scrambling to coach at a school like UT...it's somewhat confusing

That is said a lot, but IMO not true. He ran Rice's, Syracuse's offense.........and Alabama's offensive play calling - yes, he did (they were rebuilding after Shula). Also, Saban was pissed to lose Major. If he's good enough for Nick, I think Mack can embrace him.
And if that's not enough, Malcolm Brown is tied to Major. Brown is thought of as the next Earl Campbell/Ricky Williams/Jamaal Charles/etc.

I agree, but understand the hesitation. I think Major being OC at Texas was a given before Muschamp left. Now, pressure is on Mack and he has to make a DC AND OC homerun hire.
I think Teryl Austin as DC is not as glamorous as many had hoped. Maybe Mack's looking for a name as OC?

Are you sure about that? He left as OC for Bama to become a RB coach at Texas.
I know Applewhite played at UT, but that's a pretty big step down.

Maybe Leach? I want to see him back in NCAA ball. I just know Mack hates him and wants to find a way to satisfy Major. Will be interesting here. Glad I'm a Tiger fan.
