They will inherit a shite show… yes we have talent every year but it will still take time to rebuild. This team is pretty much last in the sec (besides vandy). LR inherited a team that beat bama with Trevor knight at quarterback. He then was given 3 TRANSFER QBs that are all heisman/nfl caliber talent. He may get some level of credit for QB development but I don’t buy into the guru hype. He accomplished nothing with mayfield/ murray/ hurts. Now he’s squandering rattler and probably Caleb Williams too.

I don’t agree

Louisiana talent just had us close with Alabama sans about 17 four stars……17.

It’s LSU and with the right coach, we will be in the top 10 recruiting this year with top tens for years to come.

We’ve been getting beaten by teams with less talent. Way less talent.

It always boiled down to coaching.

Eta. It’s not just about reciting and Game day scheme.

A coach must:

1. Recruit
2. Develop them emotionally, physically, mentally
3. Prepare them mentally during spring ball.
4. Prepare them mentally for September (avoid UCLA/Wisconsin/va tech f-ups)
5. Prepare them mentally for the rest of the year.
6. Have back ups mentally and physically prepared to come in right away.
7. Have a great pregame plan
8. Make adjustments during the second quarter.
9. Make adjustments during half and 3/4 quarters as well.
10. Sustain success
11. Address failures.
12. Learn from failures/success.
13. Get better and grow as a coach.
14. Keep pressing pedal when up.
15. Never give up when down.

I forgot we have more talent than any other team in the history of the universe and that solves every known problem with our football program… How could I have missed this.

lol if your characterization of Lincoln Riley's prowess as an offensive and QB coach is "he might deserve some level of credit" then you are being laughably dishonest. I mean that is an absolute joke.

The last 2 games showed you our potential.

The defense if O pulls his head out of his arse earlier in the season could have been elite.

The offense is directionless

Uhhhh, winning multiple conference titles and multiple playoff appearances is accomplishing nothing??? Winning a national title is the only way to "accomplish something"? Then your choice for new head coach must either be Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney, Jimbo Fisher.... or Orgeron. No other current college coach has won a national title other than these guys in the last 15 years.

I don’t hate Riley. I just don’t get fanboying for him. He’s hardly won any big games. He lost most of his bowl games and every CFP game. Winning cupcake conference championships isn’t impressive to me. They also choke at least 1-2 regular season games ever year. They only make it to the cfp because the conference is so weak. It’s not going to cut it in the sec west

what impresses you then? The other alleged candidates: Aranda, Napier, Campbell, Kiffen and Stoops have NEVER won a conference championship. Have NEVER made the playoffs. They’ve had losing seasons. Riley’s resume is 1000 times better than everyone of those guys. If you aren’t impressed with what Riley has accomplished then you must hate all of the other candidates.
