It wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't already chosen Haley and is waiting for the smoke to clear to announce. Almost everyone else has made their hires and Les can't seem to lure even a decent DC to the so called elite LSU program. Sad state of affairs.

It used to be the case where having a vacancy helped because the head coach could fill in on the recruiting trail for that vacant spot. If that's still the case, it would make sense that no announcement would come until after signing day.

Yeah a lot of people, including me, thought Kiffin would be a bad hire, but Alabama's offense was really really good this year and Kiffin did a great job. Same thing can happen with Brick Haley. You never know.

Really too bad Bud Foster is too dumb to come join the big boys in the SEC. Moreover, he is shorting himself $300-$400k a year, easily. He is also a sap for taking deferred payment in the form of longtime retention bonuses when in reality, the new AD is going to oust Beamer in 2 years if he doesn't retire already.

IMO, if not Shoop, Venables (suspect actually), Foster, Narduzzi, or Smart....then I don't know who is a home run. I'd like to see Bedford bolt from the Sips.

I think LSU fans are way over reacting and thinks your athletic department is in the same state when in reality I would say they are doing a good solid search/interviewing process to get who they want, when they want. The end result will be good fit for what they want and the results will be fine

its so easy to identify the lunatic fringe here. if the plan was to promote Haley, why is Miles flying around the country in the middle of the night? credit card points? or is it just to pretend that he's looking for someone else?

do you realize what a small percentage we are on here, and that the overwhelming majority of LSU football fans have no idea that any of this is happening right now? but you actually think Miles is doing all this to trick a few hundred people on a message board? but you're not falling for it.

if Miles wanted to promote Haley he would have done it by now, for the same reason he started Jennings and Welter, because he doesn't care what any of us think and we have zero input on what he does with the team.

and why would the plan be to promote Haley in the first place, the guy chief brought in, the guy who has been mediocre as a coach and recruiter?

allevas dumb arse just signed him to an extension, even if Miles did want to fire him, he can't.

Why do so many people think Miles has been turned down? If he had offered the job, the terms of the deal would have leaked out. You don't offer someone the position without pay being discussed. I have not heard of dollars such as $5.3 mil for 4 years or whatever it may be being mentioned with Pendergast and Shoop or anyone else. Maybe Miles didn't feel right about these guys.

I'm not defending Miles as I have said if he doesn't win at least 10 REGULAR season games in '15 he should be fired. We can pay a staff less than we are paying this group to win 8 games. That said, I will reserve judgment about who he hires until next fall.

No.

Barry Alvarez hired a guy one week after his coach resigned. Said "its my job to have a shortlist. this program isn't going backwards"

How nice it must be to have that kind of leadership. Dammit!!

That usually applies with position coaches and not a coordinator that can really sway recruits on that side of the ball. This hire needs to be taken care of before signing day.
