It's still a feat to almost get Louisville to the BCSNC. He's proven he can win with lesser talent I think 8 or 9 would be the norm at Kentucky for him with maybe one 10 win season

With all due respect. Never.

2010 bro. We had a 30 something ranked defense and only lost to Auburn and Alabama by 4 points

4 points to AU? I thought it was more like 20

Even Saban couldnt make 8 or 9 win seasons the norm at Kentucky. Its frickin Kentucky.

Petrino would do better at Kentucky than Saban

Agreed. Saban couldn't do that.

Hell, Bear Bryant couldn't do it.

Not a valid point. But you do realize that just because Louisville is in Kentucky that at UK he would have to coach in the sec and not the big east?

Not to the conversation at hand, but I felt like pointing it out

Yes

My point was that Petrino has a track record of doing more with less (Arkansas for example). He's a top 10 coach. If he were at UK long term I honestly think he would get 8 win seasons regularly

I will agree that Petrino is a heck of a ball coach and did a lot at Arkansas with less. But i don't think he could get enough talent to UK to consistently beat UF, SC, UGA, UT, and a good SEC west opponent each year and get 8 wins every year.

Auburn and Tennessee haven't done themselves many favors in being so fire-happy.

I'm scared at Auburn the supposed talent we have is cancelled out by how quickly we've turned on Chizik (though its not hard to argue why). That's gotta scare a coach who's looking to come into the toughest league.

Long-term, it's Auburn and Tennessee at the top, with Tennessee being ahead if it can get its out of state recruiting machine back up and running. But if they can't, then Auburn has the highest ceiling of the 4.

Given Dooley's 3 year performance and this year alone for Chizik I don't think any coach looking at either school would see that either is irrational in firing them. But I may just have blinders on because Im sick of watching UT stink.

I'll be interested to see if Petrino is considered?

His reputation is so damaged. And he is such a dirt bag.

Leaving an NFL team in the middle of the night. Not even showing up to tell them himself.
Mouthing f u to miles like he's running the score up.
Lying to the Arky AD.

Who in the frick does this guy think he is.
I wouldn't touch that POS

Fairly certain he wasn't allowed to talk to them in person

May be wrong, but I know there's more to it than just "Petrino left without notice and didn't want to talk to the team in person"

Well he is a top 10 coach

Don't know why everyone is so enamored with having a coach with supposedly good morals. Winning > everything else

Fwiw it's worth though, I wouldn't take him back

I would take UT or AU in a second. No way I'm living and coaching in Arky.

Arkansas and it isn't even close. Doubt it? Just look who Tennessee settled on with their last hire.

UT did hire a poor coach but that doesn't mean the job is less attractive. Bama fricked up 3x hiring Price, Franchione, and Shula but it didnt make it any less appealing for Saban.

We'll see which coach ends up with which team and how much each is paid. It should be very telling.
