Also, if Leach had full control (how could you not give it to him?), who's to say that he doesn't employ a power running game to go along with the Air Raid offense? Why are they mutually exclusive?

this is what i am thinking. A good OC will tailor the offense to your personell and needs.

You obviously didn't watch many tech games. They were a very good running team when they ran it.

Maybe yardage wise, but I seem to remember them struggling late in the game in the "big," close games with running the ball to ice the game. They couldn't do what Arkansas did to LSU, and what LSU did to Alabama, this season.

Without an offensive line that knows how to execute blocking assignments and has the physical ability to dominate in the process, it's all pipe dreams.

our oline is young and should be drastically improved next season.

Leach himself said on the radio he would explore options as an OC or HC.

I don't know if any programs will take chance on him fir a HC job till legal trouble is resolved.

He would be a great temp fix.

Someone better build us a toolshed for post concussive treament

exactly what I was trying to say, they ran the ball to suplement the pass offense. RB draws arent going to eat up yardage and clock in the SEC.

Again, Leach's running game at TT was totally dependent on the passing portion of the offense.

IIRC in Leach's offense the run game is almost exclusively dictated by defensive formation and audibles called by the QB. QB is given a ton of freedom in that offense. I think a pass-first offense when well executed is as good as it gets tbh, I would love for Leach to come to LSU.

Are you sure you didn't cut and paste this from a post of about 12 months ago?

Dude That's how young they were this year. One veteran guy is about to turn into multiple veteran guys

Leach as an OC rather than a HC? Is that even possibly in his career goals at this stage?

Bill King said that Leach wouldn't take an OC job at this point...personally it would be fun to watch, but I think the guy is somewhat of a cancer and probably would do more harm than good.

Les Miles had very good offenses in the big 12 at Oklahoma State.

I love Leach, but i question how it would translate to the SEC.

Either way, it is better than what we have. It has to be,

most people are just looking for hope that next year's offense will be a complete 180 of what's happened the last 2 years.

A couple of thoughts on this:

(1) People here complaining about how badly our offense would perform because they don't know fundamentals (i.e. blocking schemes, short pass routes, etc.) miss that this is caused by the utter lack of coaching by Crowton. The guys we recruit are talented; offensively they aren't coached for shiite.

(2) To the guy who mentioned Kragthorpe earlier, I hope you were kidding. Here's a post I put together last year regarding Kragthorpe aka another Crowton: LINK

(3) I don't know how Leach would fit in versus someone else, but anyone - a 15 year old kid with a mastery of Madden - would be better than Crowton.

(4) Glad to see belowpar back out from hiding. Watching for his posts is like looking under a Christmas tree. Thanks belowpar

I personally think we could do better personality wise but Leach would be an extreme upgrade if we get a good QB(Mettenberger).I don't believe the offense we saw at TT would be the same one we would see at LSU and not because of Miles.Because of talent. At TT Leach needed that offense to stay competitive. He didn't have enough talent to keep up with Oklahoma and Texas so he had that pass heavy offense to keep his teams close and hope the opponents made enough mistakes for his team to pull out the win.I think we;d see an offense more along the lines of Okie St.(why hire the pupil when you can hire the teacher),Oklahoma or Texas(before they couldn't run a lick).Pass influenced but still leaning on the running game to keep balance.Big 12 offenses will work in the SEC as long as you have a defense to back it up on those occasions the offense is off.

I like the idea. As far as the running game--he recruited against a lot of the "bigger" schools in the B12. LSU and Miles seem to pretty much get what they go after.
He might instill a little of that killer instinct in Miles. Miles might instill some "calmness" in him.
If the OC (who ever it may be) does the job and goes for the win, I think Miles is hands off. I see Miles only getting involved when absolutely needed.
