Why does his staff bolt on him. Do they think he cant coach or is he Dick. I've heard several different things, so what's the most accurate?

Yes.

I thought dooley's first staff was pretty good at UT, considering the circumstances... but it's been a dumpster fire on several different levels.

Lame duck coach. They want to find a new job before the shite hits the fan.

Good coaches are gonna get lots of attention from elsewhere. Bama has had a lot of assistants leave, IIRC.

He got even better replacements so I see no problem.

Sunseri is a better DC than Wilcox?... that may be the case, but no one really knows.

From what I've gathered the last few weeks, Wilcox and Sirmon didn't love the level of attention SEC gets. For example, we all know SEC football is 365 and there is not a single day out of the spot light. Both guys came from out west where things are a little different. I'm not saying this ran them off, but since they've arrived I think it's fair to say they've been looking for an opportunity to get back home.

After the Dooley presser, I believe there is a good chance Harry Hiestand and Dooley agreed to part ways. HH was interviewed for the Ohio State job, and took the Notre Dame spot. However, not even a few hours after HH officailly took the Notre Dame spot, Dooley offically hired Pittman. That's too quick, unless things were already in place.

99% of the posters who comment on Dooley have no clue what they're talking about. They don't realize exactly what he inherited. The last two years there has practically been no upper classmen. 2 years without a foundation of juniors and seniors. We still won't have that foundation this year. We had 3 seniors on our starting O & D this year. THREE.

Where I believe Dooley gets a bad rap is he has to field a team of 80% freshmen and sophomores who are young, duh, and make mistakes. It doesn't matter if he or the coordinators are the best play callers or game preparers in the world if their plans cannot be executed by these freshmen and sophomores.

I think this year you'll see large improvements. Not only because 18 of 22 are returning from the starting line up, but 38 of 44 on the two deep and the schedule is a whole helluva lot easier.

Truth is I don't know if he's the man, and neither does anyone else, because he has not had an opportunity to compete with an SEC caliber squad.

Yep, Wilcox and Sirmon couldn't handle the scrutiny in the SEC. Bagget leaving was called a retirement, but Tennessee is paying him so it's safe to say the parting was at least mutual if not Dooley's decision. Heistand.. well our OL sucked and he wanted out and Dooley gave no effort to keep him.

It looks bad from the outside but looking more into the situation it's not as bad as it appears.

It all comes down to this year for Dooley just like it was going to when he was hired.

Personally, I think Tennessee is in a GREAT position for this year.

The perception is things are going awful. Which can really work very well in Dooley's favor. It's really a no lose situation.

This is the first year we have seasoned talented players returning.

We have a schedule that is the easiest I've seen in my entire lifetime as a Vol fan.

We will be favored in every game we play except Bama, UGA, and posibly UF. Dooley has a horrible record against higher ranked teams, but has beaten everyone he was supposed to beat since arriving at UT, minus UK in 2011(which was a big one)

Dooley is a work in progress. They knew that when they hired him. When LSU hired Miles, after the first year lots of coaches bolted. He was not up to the SEC, and it was obvious. He is still a work in progress.

They think he is going to get shitcanned. It's much easier to find a job when you have one.

According to VolQuest, Hart will not give the assistants that need to be hired multi-year deals and no current assistants will get extended this offseason. One year deals for the entire staff going into next year (except Jay Graham who is here not for Dooley, but because he is a former Vol).

When I saw this posted a few weeks back, I figured that a lot of coaches would be jumping ship.

Dooley faces a huge uphill battle. 1] He is not a UT Alum 2]He did not get full authority over the program. 3]UT fans are so fickle that he is having a hard time getting their support. 4] The state of Tennessee does not have enough super talent to support so many universities. If he survives these odds UT will be hard to beat in the years to come. If he does not make it there he will land on his feet.
