Anything less than 10 wins is a failure ,

They are switching to the spread but hiring Kiffin as OC?
Something is not making sense here
Why? Kiffin is running a spread at Alabama right now.
"Power spread" is the popular term: using a FB/HB/TE strong side with read options out of the shotgun.

Except Coach Orgeron has gone on record as saying he wants to run a spread style offense with a dual threat quarterback.

Yep.
Just like this year. Bama game and FL game were all Esminger's and the players' fault.
The wins were all O.

If they want to win 10 games next year they better start searching the JUCO ranks for a big Phyisical middle linebacker. Devin White is good but who after that can step in and play middle?

O has basically set up his tenure at LSU with admitting he's not a good HC
that's why he's cheap and that's why we're going to spend so much money on "da best co-o-danatuh in uh-merka"

exactly
plus his hire was based on "continuity"

They should hire some Louisiana high school coaches to succeed them for next year. Since they come from Louisiana they would be loyal and stay awhile.

There will always be a 1 year grace.
After next a 1 year grace to replace Aranda, Etling, Guice, etc...
Then another 1 year grace to replace Kiffin and whoever else.

I don't blame him as much for Florida. Three trips inside the 5 and zero points sucks but a Guice fumble and a botched snap on the FG were just flukey plays. The 3rd and goal call to JD Moore was horrendous.

For most of the tards on this site, nothing less than 24-0.

2017 - Schedule too difficult, can't blame Ed.
2018 - Breaking in a new QB, not Ed's fault.
2019 - New defensive coordinator, Ed can't be blamed.
2020 - New offensive coordinator, Ed will get it right.
This will continue until he retires. He'll recruit just well enough so that 6-6 seasons (or worse) will never occur - we'll just be stuck in a seemingly perpetual cycle of 8-4 / 7-5 seasons.

O isn't that smart as a FB coach but he's learned how to play politics/PR
he knows EXACTLY what he's doing to keep this job
just like he knew EXACTLY what kind of stuff he had to do to get da bayou behind him

I love how the excuses are already piling up.
-First year grace period.
-hard schedule next year
-"Hover" around 10 wins (whatever that means)
Next it will be the coordinators fault, or they leave. The players left early. We need to wait to get O's guys in here, etc, etc.
If 10-2 is the standard then everyone is conceding that LSU will never play for an SEC or National championship again. To me, if you're going to get rid of Miles, it has to be to get someone who can contend for championships. But everyone knows that's not going to happen so the magical, 10 win season becomes the standard.
Look, they may win 10 games but unless they're beating Bama at least occasionally and making it to the SEC championship game and the playoffs then I'm not interested. This football program is capable of that, yet the bozos are fine with playing second (or third, or fourth) fiddle to Bama.
Oh, and by the way, 8-4 seasons will keep O employed for life. With his political ties and media control, he is entrenched so you should be looking more at can we get him out of here in the next decade, not the next 2-3 years.
