Who knows. the thing with a guy like him is how much of bama's defense is Kirby and how much of it is Saban?

I think the next LSU coach is coming from the NFL.

Somewhat like they did with Arnsparger. The wild card could be Bill O'Brien. Depending on when the move is made. O'Brien would be a dream guy at LSU, but who knows if he would come if they get new GM at Houston.

Timing is everything (see Saban, Urban, Harbaugh, etc.) Bill O'Brien is the absolute best LSU fans could hope for and that's still a pipe dream possibility entirely contingent on timing.

I would be stoked for Fuente. He's been fielding a lot of calls from interested programs however so, once again, timing is everything.

95% of the other names listed in this thread are absurd and unobtainable, and indicate how delusional our fanbase has become.

I would see Gundy in there as well, maybe even under "realistic". More realistic than Leach.

I'd call Tom Herman first. I don't think we'd need to make a second call.

Yes, he's only been a head coach for a year, but Meyer had only been a HC for 4 years (2 years at BGSU and 2 at Utah), but had never had co-ordinator experience. Herman has a 10-year track record as an OC with 6 of those in a Power 5 conference (3 at ISU, 3 at Ohio St). He has pretty much the same amount as experience as Meyer did when he came to Florida... and he has recruiting ties to Texas (HC at Houston, OC at both Texas St and Rice).

He'd also almost certainly say yes. He'd be my top candidate. I want to win the hire, not the press conference. A name coach nearing the end of his career like Patterson would piss me off. You're paying for what they did... you want to pay for what someone is going to do. Get the up and comer.

After I say that, I could be talked into Chip Kelly.
