What kind of idiot would fire a coach 3 days before Early Signing Day?

Talking about Auburn of course, is their brass completely incompetent? Yes their class sucked already but why fire a coach right after a win 3 days before ESD? Why not wait until next Sat. as the replacement will have to finish up with their team anyways and you could at least keep most of the early class. What am I missing here?

A team that already has the next guy in place.

It's the right thing to do. You don't want kids to sign up if they're coming there for the HC.

Also, they have their guy already to make a move this close to early signing period

If a coach is let go, can’t those kids get out of their commitment with today’s rules?

I guess it would make sense if the new guy at least makes a statement Monday or Tuesday but still seems like a tactical error to me but Ill just sit back and see what happens lol.

I’m pretty sure you’re correct.

1. The recruiting class is terribly small already.

2. There's a lot of value in being the first to market in a coaching search. Not that there will be a ton of openings this year, but Auburn is far and away the best job available.

3. It's arguably worse to fire him after ESD because then you have to deal with the headache of kids scrambling to look elsewhere after signing an LOI.

4. If there is a replacement in place before Wednesday, you could actually save more recruits than you would've lost otherwise by waiting.

So you advocate screwing over teenagers? Got it.

The kids aren't going to be bound to their letter of intent with a head coaching change anyway. May as well get it out of the way and sign the kids you know you can actually count on as part of the class.

This is actually irrelevant in this context with an Alabama school.

State law states an opening has to be open for at least 5 days.
