Oh I'm not saying that it's a reason for him not to go. It's his alma mater and a place that he obviously is very fond of. My question is simply is Miles as "good" a coach without the sheer number of great players? For instance, was Nick Saban always a great coach and elite recruiter, or did he become one when he found himself in a part of the country with an abundance of elite talent (the southeast)?
Urban Meyer has recruited well at OSU and gotten some southern players to come up to the midwest. But the same question remains: Is Meyer just simply a good coach? Or is he someone who is able to bring in elite talent thus making him look "better" than he actually is? JMO - his coaching history has shown that he can win anywhere: Midwest (Bowling Green & OSU); South (Florida); West (Utah). Miles on the other hand was good, but certainly not great at Okla. St. He didn't become a "great" coach until he arrived at LSU.

The same could be said of Saban if you go by their records pre LSU which is obviously the case.

Are you trying to say Michigan has recruited better than LSU in the last 4 years?
Please be what you're saying.

Im saying that Michigan signed higher average ranking classes than LSU did.
Michigan refuses to oversign, so LSUs classes are going to be ranked higher.

Preaching to the choir on that one
I really didnt mean to get into a pissing match about recruiting. Was just refuting people who say good players wont go to Michigan because of whatever reason.

I will say that a 4* recruit in Michigan is, on average, going to be worse than an equally rated 4* recruit in the Southeast.
Especially at skill positions.
Michigan might have a higher ranking per recruit, but look at the NFL draft to see who is recruiting better talent.

Nothing like admitting your bias from the jump

Ive never tried to make the argument that Hoke was able to develop talent.

Its more like an opinion than bias.
Should have put an "I think" in there. My fault. However, your average individual star ranking argument might help my case here. Their average recruit star ranking is on-average better or identical to LSU's yet LSU has wayyyy more talent?
Michigan can recruit well with the right coach, no doubt. They are a storied powerhouse with money, but trying to tell me that star rankings per recruit prove Hoke got better talent at Michigan is kind of silly when you actually look at the talent on both teams.
Do you really think his recruits were more talented than LSU's?
Its an opinion thing, not a factual thing, but I just don't see Michigan having CLOSE to the level of talent as LSU, regardless of development.

On an average recruit level, coming out of HS, yes.

It helps when LSU has no problem casting off the duds

Ignoring star rankings, you actually believe this?

Wait, what?
Michigan doesn't have players transfer for lack of PT?
quote:
The GSR is the NCAA's more inclusive calculation of student-athlete academic success. The NCAA rate is more accurate than the federally mandated methodology because it includes incoming transfers and students enrolling in the spring semester who receive athletic aid and graduate, and deletes from the calculation student-athletes who leave an institution and were academically eligible to compete. The federal rate does neither."

No, I said it because I dont believe it.
The recruiting services do a hell of a job. I dont get 100 days in the fall to go hit the road and evaluate, so I trust what they say.

I can only think of 1 transfer in the Hoke era.
But way to window dress that one.

please expound...
LSU has a higher graduation rate in both rankings than Michigan in football. LSU isn't Alabama, we don't process at an alarming rate. Kids transfer for more PT somewhere or they break the law and get kicked out of school. Just like anywhere else.

In the last 4 classes LSU has signed 100 to Michigans 86. It would be nice to have a 14 kid bubble to work with.

LSU isn't Alabama
Its cute yall have convinced yourselves of this. You do the same shite Bama does. Have the balls to admit it.
And hey, Im a huge proponent of it. I am 100 percent pro oversigning. It works.

We sign more kids AND graduate a higher percentage of them?

You really dont. Michigans seem low because of the giant turnover between the last two regimes. After this years numbers are factored in, Michigan will have better statistics.
Brady has graduated everyone of his kids.
