What do people think, will Rice fire Bailiff?

Next year would be his last if no extension. Could they make a splash hire - someone no-one expects but who really wants a head coaching job? Someone fired? Les Miles? How about a guy already living in Dallas - Mike Singletary? What about Hugh Freeze if he swears it was a phase he was in, he got counselling and swears not to do anything bad again?

I think they have to swing for the fences, if they fire Bailiff at all that is. He too then to bowls, may still have some support.

Does it matter? It’s Rice. They will never compete for anything significant.

People said the same about Stanford until they got the right coach.

You’re full of shite. Chip Kelly isn’t meeting with Rice. I hear it’s between Gruden and Mullen. Jeff Fisher is a distant third.

Did you really just compare Stanford University vs Rice? That’s like comparing LSU and LA Tech

Great spot for Kliff if he gets fired. Repair your reputation and slay some Asian nerds

Bailiff did some good things there but I think it’s time for them to move on. If I was them I’d maybe gamble on a Hugh Freeze or Kendal Briles

Odds are they get blown out by North Texas in their last game. Aside from wanting to save a little money and not believing there is a good fit to replace him I don't see why he would be there next year.

Rice has good academics but Stanford is a global brand. They're also in a big conference. Now Rice probably could find someone to get them in a bowl every other year because there's so many bowls now.

Rice is very different from Stanford. Entirely different atmosphere and unlike Stanford, most of their students could care less about sports. It’s also significantly smaller university at 3,500 undergrads to over 7,000 for Stanford.

In the end, they need someone that can recruit and coach. Baliff is just not a good recruiter and relied too heavily on his assistants there. Hell, Tom Herman is a key reason for his good years.

Rice has also felt like if Emory tried to play D1 sports. Outside of baseball, just not really a school that competes. Great school in a big city, small student body, focus is not on athletics.

I have 2 good friends who played at rice in the 90s and are still close to the program. Bailiff will be gone. Crappy thing because Bailiff lives in the subdivision next to mine and is a a really good guy liked by everyone.
