Last seen at the donut shop, but the dude made Kansas a legit team. Look at them after he left. I'm certain he could be a good fit for one of the Pac 10/12 openings.

Oh wait, the players said he was hard on them. Well, I guess Turner Gill is treating them nicely now.

He wasn't just hard on them, dude really crossed the line. You really think he can effectively recruit with some of the crap he told those players?

Then how did they win? They were never better than a 6-5 type team before he got there. They started having 10 and 11 win seasons with him. Now without him they are one of the worst Division 1A teams. He is the only missing factor.

Why are you confusing being a quality coach with being a guy who crossed the line?

I must not know the entire story. What did he do to cross the line, none of this sticks and stones stuff?

Why does Nick Saban get a pass? His players hate him as well, but the guy gets results.

Nick ever make racist comments to his players? Nick ever talk about a guy's alcoholic father?

Oh yeah there's also the matter of him having a few NCAA violations on his resume as well.

Gee I wonder why teams aren't knocking down his door?

Well, he's also extremely fat and unhealthy. Not a great investment.

Link?

Seriously, I could be misinformed. This happened about the same time as the Mike Leech stuff, right? I know that Leech got railroaded.

I dropped a pass and [Mangino] was mad," Brown said. "And I said, 'Yes, sir. Yes, sir.' The yelling didn't bother me. But then he said, 'Shut up!' He said, 'If you don't shut up, I'm going to send you back to St. Louis so you can get shot with your homies.' I was irate. I wanted to hurt him, to be honest with you."

quote:

Brown said another teammate had confided in the team that his father was an alcoholic and the player dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

"One day, [Mangino] said in front of the entire team, 'Are you going to be a lawyer or do you want to become an alcoholic like your dad?' " Brown said.

quote:

He told me he'd send me back to Oakland where I could be drinking out of a brown paper bag," Mortensen said. "He told me, 'You were a s---- friend to someone I knew that passed away.' He called me a bum. He showed me no respect. He told me he'd send me back to the ghetto. I'm not a victim. I'm a grown man. I never let Mangino get to me. But you know what? I'm not bitter. I loved KU and I never let him break me."

I remember the drunk dad comment, but I didn't recall the others.

Anyway, Kansas absolutely sucks now.

yes they do, but that guy still has a shite ton of baggage so I can see why you'd avoid him like the plague if you're in the market for a coach.

A friend of mine played for Butch Davis at Miami and he swears Davis would use the same tactics.
