You should give a coach 4 years.

dude should have been fired last year after the uk loss. ut basically wasted a year when it could have already been rebuilding.

If UT is going to fire Dooley they had better hire a proven winner.

I know it sounds crazy, but Vol fans are correct on Gruden. He is entertaining the idea. He's spoken to a couple of coaches about the possibility. He's not saying he will do it, but saying he might and checking interest. I know of one guy he has spoken to who is a phenomenal recruiter and would accept a position on his staff.

And water is wet.

Honestly, pretty soon, UT is going to run out of cash paying all the coaches you guys have shite canned over the years.

My only concern with Gruden is if he truly has the passion for coaching college. I think coaching in college and the nfl have different challenges. Some nfl coaches like Sherman and Calhoun failed at the college ranks. I would personally prefer a proven college coach.

I would love to see Chucky in the SEC. But, he is either going to coaching the Eagles or sitting in the booth calling Monday Night Games. UT has a better chance of getting Rex Ryan (word is UK backers have talked to him).

I don't understand this line of thinking at all. Dooley is the worst coach in the history of the program. Why even entertain the idea of retaining him?

Don't worry, Mizzou fans will be on here discussing who will lead the Tigers to .500 ball in the SEC next year.

This is simply incorrect.

Whether you believe Gruden will come to Tennessee or not, there have been a lot of discussions between he and Tennessee money people over the last month or so.

Rex Ryan is not even on the radar, nor will he ever be.

Are you by any chance referring to a former SEC coach?

There should also be talks with Gary Patterson.

It seems like the last few big jobs Gruden's name has gotten tossed around but no real substance.

I'm not thinking about retaining him. I just hope UT doesn't try and hire an up and coming coach. I want them to throw the check book at a big name coach.
